SoClean vs SoClean 2 (2021): Which CPAP Cleaner is the Better Choice?

Using a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine to treat obstructive sleep apnea is not easy. But what is more challenging is keeping the equipment clean to avoid germ, bacteria, and mold growth. Unless you don’t want to develop more health issues, it is recommended that you clean your CPAP equipment every day using automated CPAP cleaners like the SoClean and SoClean 2. With the use of these cleaners, sanitizing your CPAP and keeping it functioning at its best become less tedious. Read on to learn more about their features and discover which one is the better choice for you.

Note: The SoClean and SoClean 2 machines are two different models of a CPAP cleaner. The original SoClean has been discontinued and replaced with the SoClean 2, which is pretty much the same as the original version save for its size. The travel-size SoClean 2 is known as the SoClean 2 Go, but this model is now off the market, too.

Design

The SoClean 2 is corded and ideal for home use, while the SoClean 2 Go is battery-operated and is more lightweight.

Between the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go, the SoClean 2 Go is more ideal for travel because it is cordless and weighs only 1.3 lbs.

What sets the SoClean 2 apart from the SoClean 2 Go is that it is ideal for home use while the other is ideal for travel. SoClean features a new sleek design, characterized by its visibly smaller footprint. It also comes with a hose insertion port, so it is not cumbersome to place and use it next to your bed.

In terms of weight, the SoClean 2 has everything you expect from a heavy-duty CPAP cleaner. Weighing 5.6 pounds, it is corded and comes with a bigger chamber. The SoClean 2 Go, on the other hand, only weighs 1.3 pounds and is small enough to pack in a suitcase for travel. Moreover, while the SoClean 2 requires 110 to 240 VAC to operate, the SoClean 2 Go operates on battery so you don’t need to search for a socket to plug it in. It is also wireless so you can take it anywhere with you.

The SoClean 2 also features an easy-to-read front display and indicator lights so you can monitor the current time and status of the cleaning cycle. You can also find this feature in the SoClean 2 Go.

Sanitizing Power

Both the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go can kill up to 99.9% of germs in CPAP machines.

The SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go sanitize CPAP machines using waterless ozone technology to make sure that they are completely dry after cleaning.

Both the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go are great cleaners for CPAP machines. They kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria and can disinfect the CPAP machine’s mask, reservoir, and hose without the use of water, soap, or harsh and messy chemicals. These machines effectively eliminate germs so you are sure to have a restful sleep at night without catching any type of infection.

The type of CPAP cleaner to use is very crucial since even a small drop of water left in the equipment can serve as a breeding ground for mold and bacteria. Fortunately, both the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go use activated oxygen in sanitizing CPAP masks so they are able to keep them completely dry. Also known as ozone, this technology also helps destroy harmful pathogens to keep you protected from unhealthy particles and dirt while sleeping.

Ease of Use

Unlike other CPAP disinfecting solutions, the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go are not messy to use.

The only difference between the SoClean 2  and SoClean 2 Go is that one is more travel-friendly than the other.

While other CPAP disinfecting methods are messy, time-consuming, and inefficient, the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go machines are fast, easy, and very effective. The only difference is that one machine is more travel-friendly than the other.

The SoClean 2 machine is easy to operate that it does not require you to take any of its pieces apart. To clean your CPAP, all you need to do is to open the lid, put your CPAP mask in the machine, and then close the lid. Once the lid is closed, the ozone starts to surround the CPAP mask and sanitize the inside and outside of the machine until the CPAP is completely dry and ready to use.

The SoClean 2 Go, on the other hand, is ideal if you are the type who spends a lot of time away from home. This machine is the first portable CPAP sanitizing device and features exactly the same sanitizing process as the SoClean 2 cleaner. It also does not require you to disassemble the machine—all you have to do is place your mask in the cleaning chamber and turn it on. The cycle lights then indicate the progress of the cleaning cycle. After 10 minutes, the CPAP machine is thoroughly sanitized.

Cleaning Time

Both the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go are capable of cleaning a CPAP mask fast, although the SoClean 2 Go doesn’t feature the same programmable timer that you can find in the SoClean 2. While the SoClean 2 has a preset for seven minutes, you can change the cleaning time as necessary. If your CPAP doesn’t have a humidifier, you have the option of reducing the cleaning time to only 3 to 5 minutes. If your mask has an odor, however, you may extend the cleaning time to 12 minutes until you get rid of the foul odor. You can pretty much adjust the timing based on your needs.

Verdict

Both the SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go work exceptionally with CPAP machines and accessories and can kill up to 99.9 percent of germs in CPAP machines. If you’re not a frequent traveler, however, the SoClean 2 is undeniably the better choice.

SoClean 2 Go

The SoClean 2 and SoClean 2 Go are both top-rated for their ease of use and convenience. They are also easy to operate and do not require you to disassemble your CPAP when cleaning. They work well with various types of CPAP models and masks and use the same tech that hospitals use in cleaning equipment so you can trust that they are very reliable.

While both CPAP cleaning machines can kill up to 99.9% of germs using an innovative and water-free sterilization method, how often you travel makes a lot of difference when deciding which one offers better value for your money. The SoClean 2 Go is very portable so it makes an ideal CPAP cleaner for travelers. It works on batteries so it lets you clean on the go, even if you don’t have access to AC power.

Take note, however, that the SoClean 2 Go is now off the market so the SoClean 2 is the way to go, especially if you don’t travel often. Aside from it’s more heavy-duty, the fact that it’s still on the market means you’ll have better support if you encounter any issues or need to replace its parts. It’s also very easy to set up and use on a daily basis. Even if you don’t understand technology very well, this product will work well for you since all you have to do is open and close the lid, then let the CPAP cleaner do all the work on its own.
