Roborock continues to impress with its line of robot vacuums and their advanced LiDAR navigation systems and cutting-edge cleaning technologies. The company just announced the release of its latest addition to the Roborock S6 series, the Roborock S6 MaxV. We review the specs and upgrades found in the Roborock S6 MaxV and compare them against its predecessor, the Roborock S6 to find out whether it’s worth the upgrade.

The Roborock S6 MaxV and the S6 have similar aesthetics but have slightly different designs. For instance, the S6 MaxV has front-mounted dual cameras.
At a glance, you won’t notice a lot of differences design-wise. Both the Roborock S6 MaxV and the Roborock S6 sport the conventional round frame found in most robot vacuums. In addition, both of them have their LiDAR sensors mounted at the top.
However, taking a closer look will reveal that the buttons on their faceplates look slightly different. The Roborock S6 MaxV boasts dual cameras at the front for better depth perception. If you look underneath, you will notice they further have different mopping mechanisms (more on this later). Both come in graphite black, but the Roborock S6 is also available in white.
Cleaning Performance & Mopping

With 2,500 Pa suction power, the Roborock S6 MaxV boasts one of the most powerful suction mechanisms among robot vacuums in the market today. This allows the S6 MaxV to pull in more dirt and finer particles than the Roborock S6, which offers 2,000 Pa suction power. Both work well with carpet deep cleaning, but as the Roborock S6 Max V has stronger power, it can suck in dust trapped in carpets better.
Both the Roborock S6 MaxV and the S6 are equipped with Roborock’s signature rolling brush. With stronger power, hair won’t get tangled as much on their brush. Their brushes can be detached and their filters are washable for more convenient cleaning. They have different settings you can use so either Roborock S6 vacuums will work harder on carpets.
A difference between the Roborock S6 MaxV and the Roborock S6 is their mop attachments. The new Roborock S6 MaxV comes with an electronic water tank, similar to the one in the Roborock S5. Meanwhile, the Roborock S6 has a separate electronic mop reservoir that you can detach when you need to fill the 140 mL tank with water for the mopping.

Both the Roborock S6 MaxV and the Roborock S6 house their laser sensors on the faceplates. These LiDAR sensors alow these robot vacuums to plot your home and map an efficient cleaning path, avoiding any obstacles they detect. They can also do all this even when it’s dark, as their navigation lets them remember and detect your floor plan automatically.
A major upgrade highlighted in the new Roborock S6 MaxV is how it can better measure the depth of different objects around your home. If you have a pet, you will be happy to know that the new Roborock S6 can avoid pet waste on the floor. The new S6 MaxV also boasts a much-faster 64-bit, 8-core processor compared to the Roborock S6’s 32-bit quad-core processor.
With intelligent navigation, both the Roborock S6 MaxV and the Roborock S6 can map different rooms in your house. The new S6 MaxV kicks it up a notch by offering multi-level mapping functionality. If your home has two or more floors, this will come in handy. Both the Roborock S6 MaxV and the S6 let you set virtual barriers so your Roborock won’t go in areas you want to avoid. This can include the pet feeding area, sensitive furniture, and the like.
Battery and Additional Features
The Roborock S6 Max can run for up to 150 mins while the Roborock S6 has a runtime of up to 180 minutes on Quiet Mode
Both the Roborock S6 MaxV and the Roborock S6 are equipped with a 5,200 mAh battery and have an impressive runtime of up to 180 minutes. However, there might be a drop off in the runtime of the Roborock S6 MaxV as it has stronger suction power and more cameras than the S6.
You can check their cleaning history or set maps, barriers, and no-go zones using the Roborock app. For the connected home, these Roborock robot vacuums are compatible with either Alexa or Google Assistant. However, you can’t ask either smart assistant to tell your Roborock to clean specific rooms you have labeled.
The upgrades on the Roborock S6 MaxV make it worth the higher price, but if you want to save a little, the Roborock S6 remains an excellent robot vacuum choice
The new stereoscopic cameras, stronger suction power, and multi-level mapping capability of the Roborock S6 MaxV make its higher price tag worth it. For its features, its price is still reasonable as other premium robot vacuums are more expensive despite having lower suction power. The Roborock S6 is still a worthy purchase. While it’s not powerful and as smart as the Roborock S6 MaxV, it still boasts impressive cleaning performance, navigation, and features.
However, if you currently own a Roborock S6, you might want to hold off on upgrading to the S6 MaxV. If you’re looking to upgrade, you may want to consider the iRobot Roomba s9+ or Shark IQ which comes with a handy self-emptying base.
