As for the Select line, it’s impact-bonded base cookware which also makes use of layers of aluminum and stainless steel. However, the the aluminum is bonded to the base only and doesn’t come up to the sides of the pot or pan. This means that heat is concentrated on the bottom only which might result in longer heating time. Also, this type of construction is unfortunately less sturdy than full-clad.
Aside from construction, the Premier and Select lines are also different in terms of thickness. The Select line has 3mm of medium-gauge hard-anodized aluminum while the Premier line makes use of 3.6mm heavy-gauge hard-anodized aluminum. Because the Premier line is 20% thicker than the Select line, it’s less likely to get deformed, plus it’s able to retain heat better and cook food more evenly.
The Premier line wins when it comes to non-stick coating and handle design.
When it comes to non-stick surfaces, both the the Premier and Select lines make use of PTFE, otherwise known as Teflon. While they have that in common, the Premier line has three layers of non-stick coating while the Select line only has two. So if you’re after durability, definitely go for the Premier line because it has an added layer of protection. To boot, you can use metal utensils on it without having to worry about scratches. With the Select line, you’re limited to wood and nylon utensils.
Another difference in design you should take note of is their handles. While they’re both made from stainless steel, the handle of the Select line is wrapped in silicone while that of the Premier line is bare. While silicone-wrapped handles are easier to handle, they do cheapen the look of the cookware a little bit plus they’re not able to withstand higher temperatures in the over or broiler (more on this later). So if we had to choose, the Premier line takes this one again.
The Premier and Select lines do have something in common though and that’s the fact that they’re easy to store, thanks to their interlocking grooves. This smart little design element allows you to stack your pots and pans neatly and securely on top of each other without them shifting, scratching each other, or toppling over.

The Premier line isn’t called premier for nothing. As you can probably tell by now, it’s better than the Select line in a lot of ways and you can include temperature tolerance to the list. While you can subject the Premier line to a maximum of 450 degrees Fahrenheit, the Select line only has a maximum tolerance of 400 degrees Fahrenheit. To boot, the Premier line will do perfectly fine in the oven or broiler while the Select line (save for the cast iron skillets) is not safe for broiler use. So if you want to experiment in the kitchen and try out all kinds of recipes, you can definitely do a lot more with the Premier line.
The Premier line offers more variations of pots and pans.
When it comes to variety, the Premier line comes out on top yet again. While both offer space-saving cookware, you get 45 variations with the Premier line which are a mix of hard-anodized aluminum non-stick and stainless steel pots and pans. The Select line only gives you 11 variations to choose from which is quite limiting in comparison. Aside from space-saving cookware, both lines also have other types that might interest you. The Select line has oil-infused ceramic non-stick, cast iron, stainless steel, and hard-anodized aluminum non-stick while the Premier line has stainless steel and hard-anodized aluminum non-stick.
