However, a big difference between the two is that the Wyze Cam V3 now has a micro USB tail, instead of a standard micro USB port. With this design choice, the Wyze Cam V3 is now better equipped to handle the elements when installed outside.
In addition to its USB tail, the Wyze Cam V3 also has an IP65 rating, meaning that it is waterproof and won’t be damaged by rain when installed outside your home. In contrast, the Wyze Cam V2 does not have any sort of weather resistance.
Both cameras can be mounted several ways.
Installing both the Wyze Cam V2 and V3 is easy and there are a few options to choose from. You can mount both cameras on the ceiling, on a wall or just place them on top of a shelf. The Wyze Cam V2 comes with a magnetic base that you can attach to the metal plate that you can mount on a wall, the ceiling or pretty much anywhere. There are no screws required.
As for the Wyze Cam V3, it comes with a few more options. First, it also has a magnetic base that you can attach to the included metal plate for a magnetic mount that is easily removable. In addition, you can also mount it using a screw head since it has a groove in the footplate for this mounting style. Furthermore, you can remove the base entirely and screw it to a third-party mounting mechanism.
Both cameras have a 3-axis design that lets you point them in any direction. With this design choice, you have more options for mounting.
The Wyze Cam V3 comes with more added features.
The Wyze Cam V2 is a very affordable security camera that comes loaded with features, such as sound and motion detection, smoke and CO alerts, continuous recording (requires micro SD card), time-lapse videos and more.
