Although these headsets were designed for specific purposes (the Atlas Aero for PC gaming and the Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox gaming), you can use them interchangeably with the help of an adapter or auxiliary cable. Both the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 will keep you comfortable for hours with memory foam cushions, AeroFit™ cooling gel, and their ProSpecs™ glasses relief system.

Both the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 provide great comfort and can be worn for hours. This is thanks to their large ear cushions that are infused with Turtle Beach’s AeroFit™ cooling gel to keep the heat of the game from heating up your head. The cushions on these headsets are memory foam cushions so they fit very comfortably on your ears. They are also lined with pleather to keep unwanted noise out and to keep your audio from spilling. Both headsets clamp on to your head with medium pressure. Not too loose that sound starts to spill and not too tight that it becomes uncomfortable. 

A neat little feature for our four-eyed friends that comes with both headsets is what Turtle Beach calls its ProSpecs™ Glasses Relief System. This is a small adjustment tab that creates a little channel on the ear cushion for your glasses, alleviating pressure and helping you to stay comfortable even with a pair of specs on. 

Both headsets also come with memory foam headbands covered in pleather that gives you extra comfort while game playing. The Elite Atlas Aero, however, has a slight edge here with it’s floating headband cushion. This floating headband cushion feels much softer than regular headband cushions like the one on the Stealth 700 Gen 2.

Build

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 are solidly built and have a very premium feel.

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 headsets are mostly made from durable solid plastic with metal reinforcements on the headband. The Elite Atlas Aero has an exposed metal headband while the Stealth 700 Gen 2’s headband is covered in plastic. Both headsets do not, in any way, feel cheap or flimsy. These headsets feel like premium products and have some weight to them. Speaking of weight, the Elite Atlas Aero is slightly heavier at 1.92lbs than the Stealth 700 Gen 2 at 1.72lbs. On your head, however, you won’t feel any difference. Both headsets have that heavy premium feel on your hands, but as soon as they get on your head, they feel really lightweight. 

When it comes to adjustability, the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 are mostly the same. The earcups on both headsets can be turned both ways to fit your head perfectly. You can even swivel them and have them lay flat on your chest when not in use. Both headsets also have height adjustment. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 has the more common headband height adjustment design where the headband can be extended on both sides. It makes a clicking effect whenever you adjust the headband—a little premium feature that’s nice to have. The Elite Atlas Aero, on the other hand, is adjusted by moving the earcups up and down the headband arm. This design isn’t as commonly found on gaming headsets but it still works pretty well and has the same nice little clicking effect.

Sound

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero has the edge in sound with its Waves NX® 3D Audio.

When it comes to sound, both headsets carry the same 50mm Nanoclear™ neodymium drivers. These are known to produce an excellent bass punch and crisp detail on the trebles. The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero boasts a frequency response range of 12Hz-20kHz while the Stealth 700 Gen 2 has a range of 20Hz-22kHz. The human ear is only capable of sensing sound between 20Hz and 20kHz, so it’s safe to say that these headphones, sound-wise, are the same so far. 

If we go deeper, however, we’ll discover that the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero has the edge with its Waves NX® 3D Audio. Both headsets have the Superhuman Hearing feature by Turtle Beach which is digital 7.1 surround sound, but the Waves NX® 3D Audio is a lot more realistic with its pinpoint location accuracy. The Elite Atlas Aero can also be synched with the Turtle Beach Control Studio on your PC where you can take full control of your headset’s sound dynamics.

Connectivity 

Both the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 are wireless headsets. The Elite Atlas Aero connects to your PC via a wireless transmitter that you plug into your USB port. You can also use the headset on any other device using the supplied 3.5mm auxiliary cable. You can use the headset with its cable like you would a normal set of headphones. There is no need to charge or power on the headset when used this way. 

The Stealth 700 Gen 2, on the other hand, was designed to connect seamlessly and wirelessly with Xbox. You connect the headset to your Xbox like you would connect a game controller. When you power on your headset, it will send a signal to the connected Xbox and power it on as well, just like a game controller would. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 also comes with Bluetooth connectivity. This will allow you to use the headset with your phone and any other Bluetooth device. You can even connect both your Xbox and your phone to the headset at the same time. So you can listen to music from your phone and still get to chat with your gaming comrades. Controls & Ports 

On the side of the left earcup on the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 you’ll find two control wheels for controlling game volume and chat volume, a mode selection button for activating and deactivating Superhuman Hearing, a power button, a pairing button, and a USB-C charging port. On the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero, you’ll find two control wheels for volume and microphone monitoring, your Superhuman Hearing button, a power button, an indicator light, a USB-C charge port, a 3.5mm input jack, and a microphone jack. On the outside of the earcup on the Elite Atlas Aero, you also get a microphone mute button. The buttons on the Atlas Aero can be remapped using the Turtle Beach Control Studio for PC. 

Microphone

Both the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 come with omnidirectional, noise-canceling microphones that stick out from the left earcup. The microphone on the Elite Atlas Aero is detachable and it has a mute button found on the side of the earcup. The Stealth 700 Gen 2’s microphone is tucked inside the earcup. When you want to use the microphone, you simply flip it down and it is activated automatically. Flipping the microphone back up puts it on mute. 

Battery

When it comes to battery life, the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero is the clear winner, giving you up to 30 hours of battery life while the Stealth 700 Gen 2 only gives you 20 hours. Both headsets can be charged using the supplied USB-C charging cable. 

Verdict

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero comes out on top with its 3D audio, bigger battery, and complete settings control on the Turtle Beach Control Studio app.

Both the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero and Stealth 700 Gen 2 are great gaming headsets that deliver stunning sound and feel very comfortable on your head. It’s difficult to compare these headsets because both are designed for different uses. The Elite Atlas Aero was designed for PC gaming and the Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox gaming.
