Dyson is probably the first brand you think of when it comes to cordless vacuum cleaners. The brand offers powerful cordless vacuums with excellent cleaning techs. However, Dyson products aren’t exactly cheap. In fact, you’ll have to pay a premium for most of them. If you’re looking to get a cordless stick vacuum, should you go with the established and expensive Dyson? Or should you consider a more budget friendly alternative from a brand such as Tineco? Design
The Dyson V8 is more versatile than the Tineco A11.

Looks-wise, the Tineco A11 and Dyson V8 look like your standard cordless stick vacuums. Tineco A11 vacuums sport a white and light color aesthetic, whereas the Dyson V8 line has a more varied color scheme that lets each model stand out from another.
Both vacuums are lightweight, weighing less than 6lbs, so they won’t cause discomfort even when used for longer periods. They can easily be converted to handheld vacuums as well since they have a quick release latch for all of their attachments. That said, the Dyson V8 does have the advantage when it comes to maneuverability. It can avoid furniture easily since the nozzles and the swivel systems are designed with responsive steering.
One other advantage of the Dyson V8 is with its length. It is 49 inches in length, compared to the Tineco A11 which is measured at 43.7 inches. The Dyson V8 allows you to reach harder to reach areas, and with its excellent maneuverability, you can clean these areas with ease.
The A11 Hero’s dust bin capacity is at 20.29 ounces while the Dyson V8 comes with a 17.92oz bin. Both dust bins are removable for deeper cleaning, but the Dyson V8 offers an easier process to do so.
Features
The Tineco A11 has more quality of life features than the Dyson V8.

One of the best quality of life features that the Tineco A11 offers is its trigger lock. With this feature, you don’t have to be always pulling on the trigger to power the vacuum. Needless to say, this allows for an easier time using the device as your forearm won’t be straining constantly. Having said that, the Tineco A11’s trigger is not as responsive as the Dyson V8. There is a delay of a few milliseconds with the Tineco’s trigger as opposed to the Dyson’s instantaneous response.
Another advantage of the Tineco A11 is that it has an easily detachable battery. Yes, you can remove the battery on the Dyson V8, but it’s not as easy as the Tineco’s. You can purchase an extra battery from Tineco to extend the run time of the A11 if you want to. In fact, the Tineco A11 Hero EX comes with an extra battery exactly for this purpose.
Performance
The Tineco A11 and Dyson V8 perform similarly when it comes to cleaning hard and carpeted surfaces.

Cleaning performance is the most important aspect that you should consider when looking at vacuum cleaners, and in the case of these two, they are both excellent. When used on hard floors, the two vacuums perform similarly. Their roller and brush attachments pick up debris easily on hard floors since their suction powers are comparable—110 AW for the Tineco A11 and 115 AW for the Dyson V8. However, when it comes to cleaning edges using their rollers, the Dyson V8 has the advantage as its rollers’ bristles are end to end, whereas the Tineco A11’s rollers aren’t.
When cleaning carpets, the Tineco A11 will pick up more surface dirt but the Dyson V8 are more effective in deep cleaning them. These two are decent options for cleaning carpets, but they aren’t the most reliable. You’ll need a vacuum that outputs more power for cleaning carpets.
As for battery life, the Tineco A11 has a runtime of ~60 minutes, with the A11 Hero EX doubling that since it comes with an extra battery. Fully charging it takes around 4 hours. Meanwhile, the Dyson V8 has a runtime of ~40 minutes and it takes 5 hours to fully charge it.
Attachments and Models
Even the most basic Tineco A11 model has more attachment heads than the Dyson V8.

The Tineco A11 lineup for North America includes the A11 Hero, A11 Hero EX and the A11 Tango. The A11 Hero is the most basic model, but as you can see from the image above, it comes with a lot of attachment heads and accessories. The A11 Hero EX and the A11 Tango both come with all the attachment heads and accessories of the A11 Hero, but the former comes with an extra battery whilst the latter comes with a full-size LED soft-roller power brush.
As for the Dyson V8 lineup, the V8 Motorhead comes with the least number of attachment heads and accessories—direct drive cleaner head, combination tool, mini soft dusting brush and a crevice tool. The V8 Animal adds a mini motorized tool and the V8 Absolute includes a soft roller cleaner head, an extension hose, a stubborn dirt brush and a tool bag.
It’s worth noting that the Tineco A11 Tango, the most expensive of the A11 lineup is still cheaper than the Dyson V8 Motorhead (discontinued) and the V8 Animal, which is the cheapest of the V8 lineup.
Verdict
The Tineco A11 Hero cordless vacuum cleaner offers better value for money than the Dyson V8 Animal.
Since these two cordless stick vacuum cleaners offer similar cleaning performance, we have to give the win to the Tineco A11 Hero. It is cheaper, offers more quality of life features and it also has more attachment heads for various cleaning tasks. That said, the Dyson V8 is a proven product with a very good reputation. If you don’t want to spend too much money and still get a very good cordless stick vacuum, the Tineco A11 Hero is the obvious choice.
