Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is a mid level tablet launched in September 2014, equipped with a great performance 1.2 gigahertz Quad-Core processing unit, a pretty large 8 inches multi touch capacitive screen, and two cameras, a 3.1 MP back-facing camera and a 1.2 MP front facing camera.

It appears that Samsung didn't care so much about the weight in this 13 ounces tablet. Though the Tab Active just has 8.39" long, it's able to fit a a 8" screen. The Tab Active is just 0.38 inches thick, taking it to the thinnest device's category.

This device includes a nice 1280 x 800 8" display, making everything look good. This display uses TFT capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

Samsung equipped the Tab Active with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 8026 system chip, backed up by a great performance Quad-Core processing unit ticking at 1200 megahertz with a big 1,5 GB RAM memory. Graphic calculations usually eats lots of CPU processing time, so it has an additional Adreno 305 graphic processing unit running at 450 megahertz to help with that calculations. This device comes with aquite big 16 GB internal memory and an external SD slot, allowing you to install a couple hundred applications and games without worrying about space.

This tablet has wi-fi capability (and it can share it with other devices as a mobile hotspot), LTE 4G fast internet connection and also HSPA+ connectivity, a slower 4G type or fast 3G connection type, using HSDPA, HSUPA and EDGE technologies. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active works with a Micro SIM card for GSM networks.

The Tab Active is equipped with two cameras, a 3.1 megapixels back-facing camera and a 1.2 mega-pixels front facing camera. This tablet can also shoot videos up to 1280x720 (HD) at 30 fps. Additionally, the camera counts with a couple of interesting characteristics like flash, geo tagging and auto-focus.

This tablet uses a large 4450 mAh Li-Polymer replaceable battery that can keep it running for many hours and even reach the end of the day without having to charge it at all.

This tablet also comes with some interesting features like Bluetooth (enables communication with other devices, computers, and accessories), GPS Localization and Near Field Communication (NFC), and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

The Tab Active might be a bit overpriced considering it is priced $ 370, while some similar tablets cost less than that. The Tab Active is probably the correct option for you no matter whether you want it mostly for social networks, will use this tablet for work or want this tablet to play lots of games.
