Samsung Galaxy S5 Active (SM-G870) Review & Specs

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is an amazing Android phone launched in June 2014, featuring a comfortable 5.1-inches screen, an exceptional 2.5 gigahertz Quad-Core processor, a 16 megapixels back camera and a 2 megapixels front facing camera.

Samsung didn’t seem to put much effort to reduce weight in this 6 oz device. Samsung offers this cellphone in three colors: gray, green and red. This phone has a beautiful design, with a thickness of just 0.35″. This phone is only 5.72″ long and 2.89″ wide, but it still manages to hold a 5.1 inches screen.

The S5 Active has a beautiful 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) 5.1 inches display, which makes everything look beautiful and brightful. Its display uses Super AMOLED capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch for gestures like pinch and zoom.

Samsung decided to sell this phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip, including a very powerful 2500 megahertz Quad-Core processing unit with a large 2 GB of RAM. Graphic rendering usually uses lots of CPU time, so it has an additional Adreno 330 graphics processing unit ticking at 450 MHz to take care of them, leaving the processor free for other tasks. A good advantage of this phone is its quite big 16 GB internal storage memory and an external memory card slot, allowing the user to store hundreds of apps without any trouble.

The S5 Active has WiFi capability (which it can provide to other devices around, acting as a router), 4G (LTE) high speed internet connection or fast 3G data connection, using HSPA, HSUPA and EDGE technologies. This cellphone works with a Micro SIM card to use GSM services.

This phone features two cameras, a 16 MP back facing camera and a 2 megapixels front facing camera. It is also able to shoot videos up to 3840×2160 (4K) at 30 frames per second. Additionally, the camera counts with a lot of valuable features like flash, fast burst mode, auto-focus, face detection shooting, digital image stabilization, smile detection shooting, HDR mode and geo tagging.

This cellphone also includes some interesting features like Bluetooth (allows communication with other bluetooth phones and accessories), GPS Navigation and NFC (to trigger actions, transfer data or make payments by holding your phone close to another NFC device or tag), and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Barometer and Compass.

This device comes with an amazing 2800 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, which isn’t too much for a phone like this. This cellphone has an aproximate 29 hs talk time and a 480 hours stand by time according to Samsung.

This device is definitely the correct option for you no matter whether you you love taking photos, will use this cellphone to play games, want this phone for work or want this cellphone mostly for social networks and internet browsing.
