Eufy’s catalog of robot vacuums has expanded over the years โ from budget models to LiDar-guided units. The G Series, which refers to the gyroscope technology the vacuums use for navigation, is one of the more affordable lineups. Its core product is the RoboVac G30, a compact and sleek vacuum with no problem going under furniture. Meanwhile, the RoboVac G30 Edge builds on the low-profile design of the G30 but adds a key feature. Below, we find out what this functionality is and see if it’s enough reason for the Edge to have the edge.

Eufy Robovac G30 vs G30 Edge Comparison Chart
Design
The Eufy RoboVac G30 and RoboVac G30 Edge’s only differences are the color accent and the additional hall sensor on the latter’s underside.

Design-wise, there isn’t a big difference between the Eufy RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge. Both sport the round form typical of robot vacuums. However, the G30 comes in a black finish with blue accents, while the G30 Edge opts for a classy-looking gold.
Other than the color, the faceplate layout of the two vacuums is the same. You get three buttons inside a shield-like panel โ one each for the Start/Pause, Recharge, and Spot Cleaning. Just below the center of the units is the brand logo. Meanwhile, almost half of the front edge is clad in a protective bumper.
The similarities continue if you look at the underside of the G30 and G30 Edge. There’s a side brush and rolling brush for cleaning. You get two main wheels and a swivel wheel for navigation as well. Path tracking and drop sensors are also discreetly built into the panel. However, Eufy adds dual hall sensors to the G30 Edge, a component integral to its key feature.
Regardless of the model you choose, these vacuums are some of the sleekest. Their low-profile forms are less than three inches thick. As such, expect the RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge to easily go under most furniture.
Cleaning Features
Eufy’s RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge deliver the same powerful vacuuming ability.

Under the hood, the Eufy RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge enjoy the same cleaning capabilities. Both units deliver a max suction power of 2,000Pa, which is surprising given they are budget models. They also come with similar 0.6-liter dust bin capacities.
Meanwhile, a motorized brush roll helps agitate dirt across surfaces before leading them to the vacuum inlet. As for walls, edges, and corners, both units rely on a side-sweeping brush.
However, the G30 and G30 Edge’s main brush rolls have bristles. While they can loosen debris stuck in crevices, they tend to capture and tangle pet hair. For fur parents, the Roomba j7 or i7’s rubber, bristle-less cleaners are a good alternative.
Eufy shares that both vacuums can handle hard floors and low to medium-pile carpets. The G30 and G30 Edge are also equipped with BoostIQ technology to increase power when tackling thicker carpets. Thanks to this feature, you’ll find debris cleared from these surfaces during the first pass alone. But if you want deeper cleaning, more powerful traditional vacuums are better.
As for noise level, these units can get as loud as 68dB, especially with BoostIQ on. But in most cases, you’re looking at a noise level of 55dB, the same as a running refrigerator.
While both robots offer smart navigation, the RoboVac G30 Edge can detect no-go zones with the use of physical boundary strips.

When looking for a robot vacuum cleaner, solid navigational features are essential. And in this area, the RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge excel without onboard cameras.
Instead, the G30 and G30 Edge navigate efficiently inside your home with the help of dual gyroscopes and path-tracking sensors. With the gyroscopes, the vacuums can detect minute changes and obstacles in the route. Meanwhile, the path-tracking sensors calculate the vacuum’s direction and displacements.
For those with privacy concerns, the lack of cameras is reassuring. Nonetheless, both robots offer mapping, although it’s limited to cleaning history. They also have drop sensors that work similarly to the cliff sensors on Roombas.
If you’re particular about where the vacuum can go, the G30 Edge has the advantage. Unlike the G30, the G30 Edge can detect no-go zones. As mentioned in the Design section, the unit has hall sensors to detect boundary strips. The G30 Edge includes two boundary strips out of the box.
Keep in mind these strips are physical, so you’ll need to manually lay them on the floor, requiring more effort than setting zones virtually via an app.
Smart Features and Runtime
The Eufy RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge work with a mobile app, support voice commands, and offer over an hour of battery life.

The Eufy RoboVac G30 and G30 Edge work with Eufy Clean, a mobile app available on Android and iOS. Through the app, users can start and pause cleaning sessions, set schedules, and even view history. Eufy Clean also allows integrations with Google Home and Alexa-enabled devices for voice commands.
As for runtime, the G30 and G30 Edge are advertised to last up to 110 minutes. However, in real-life use, both vacuums have a battery life of 80 minutes. While that’s still over one hour of vacuuming, you’ll get longer cleaning sessions between charges with a Roomba.
Verdict
The Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge is a more complete robot vacuum cleaner than the RoboVac G30.
In the RoboVac G30 and RoboVac G30 Edge, Eufy succeeds in delivering well-rounded but affordable robot vacuum cleaners. Given their price, the powerful suction is a highlight feature of the two models. However, the G30 Edge is a more complete robot, thanks to the addition of no-detect zones. While this requires setting up physical boundary strips rather than creating them in-app, it’s a feature that makes automated cleaning more convenient. But if you don’t mind a vacuum cleaning all the areas in your home, you should be fine with the G30.
