Design

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro wireless are better built than the BlackShark V2 Pro.

Both of them have an over-ear, closed back design, but the Kraken V3 Pro (left) are more durable than the BlackShark V2 Pro (right).

These two headphones have an over-ear and closed back design, so they can form a seal around your ear for deeper bass. However, due to this design, breathability is not the best, so they can cause sweating if you sweat easily. That said, they can be very comfortable when used in cooler environments, such as a room with AC.

Both of them have more than enough padding on the ear cups and the headband. Also, they are lightweight, despite being bulky, and their clamping forces are not too tight, so they can be worn for extended gaming sessions without causing fatigue.

When it comes to build quality, the Razer Kraken Pro V3 have the advantage as they are more solidly built with no glaring weak points. While made mostly of plastic, they have a metal frame that hold everything together. On the other hand, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro have some obvious weak points, specifically, the yokes that connect the ear cups to the headband. These are made of thin metal, and they are potential point of failure.

Features

Only the Razer Kraken V3 Pro have haptic feedback.

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro (left) are bulkier than the BlackShark V2 Pro (right).

Both of these gaming headsets support wired and wireless connections, as well as THX Spatial Audio surround sound. They are compatible wirelessly with PC, PS4, PS5 and the Nintendo Switch (docked), and they can work with Xbox consoles, and mobile phones using the wired 3.5mm connection.

Their THX Spatial Audio surround sound, however, will only work on PC since you’ll need to download the Razer Synapse 3 software in order to enable it. The software is only available on Windows PCs.

One feature that is exclusive to the Razer Kraken V3 Pro, at least in this comparison, is their HyperSense haptic feedback. As mentioned here in our Razer Kraken Pro V2 vs Kraken V3 Pro comparison, this feature gives you touch sensory feedback in addition to hearing the sound. The vibrations will let you feel more immersed when playing games. However, this can also be tiring when you’re playing action-packed games.

Another feature that you only get with the Razer Kraken V3 Pro is Chroma RGB support. While not essential for gaming, it’s still worth mentioning for those that love their RGB setups.

Sound

The two headsets have gaming-oriented sound profiles with boosted bass.

When it comes to sound, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro and the BlackShark V2 Pro are similar in that they both have boosted bass to emphasize explosions and rumble during action-heavy sequences in games. However, the Kraken V3 Pro also have boosted mids, while the BlackShark V2 Pro have boosted treble.

Their virtual surround sound implementation is very good. With the THX Spatial Audio feature enabled, you’ll be able to tell where sounds are coming from. This is especially helpful in competitive games, and it will provide better immersion when playing single player games.

They both work well when gaming, but they are not the best when listening to music. They both sound boomy since their bass is overemphasized.

As for their microphones, both come with detachable boom mics that can isolate noise very very well. You’ll be heard clearly by people on the other side. That said, the Kraken V2 Pro perform just a little bit better here as your voice will sound fuller and more natural. The BlackShark V2 also have decent microphone sound, but the Kraken V2 Pro’s is better.

Battery Life

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro can last longer than the BlackShark V2 Pro.

Battery life is another area where the Razer Kraken V3 Pro outperform the BlackShark V2 Pro. The former’s battery can last up to 45 hours with the haptic feedback and RGB disabled and up to 11 hours with both features turned on. On the other hand, the BlackShark V2 Pro battery can last up to 24 hours on a full charge, which is also very good. Both of them offer great battery life, but the Razer Kraken V3 Pro clearly have the advantage.

Verdict

At MSRP, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro offer better value than the BlackShark V3 Pro, but if you can get the latter at a discount, they are worth considering.
