Both Razer Kraken Pro V2 and V3 Pro are well-built, bulky, over-ear, closed back headphones.

The first thing you’ll notice with these gaming headsets is that they are quite bulky, so they aren’t the best looking pair of headsets. That said, they do have quite sufficient ear cup and headband padding and they provide enough comfort when worn. They are also lightweight, so they won’t cause too much fatigue when worn during extended gaming sessions.

Build quality is very good with these headphones. The Razer Kraken Pro V2 headband has a metal frame for reinforcement and the plastic used in other parts are dense, so this pair can withstand accidental drops. The only weak point in the Kraken Pro V2’s construction is their fixed audio cable. It would have been better if the cable was detachable so if it gets damaged, it can easily be replaced. Unfortunately, that’s not the case here.

As for the Razer Kraken V3 Pro, the build quality is similar. The headset is made of mostly dense plastic and the headband is reinforced with a steel frame. This pair of headphones has a wireless connectivity with an optional detachable 3.5mm wired connection. You don’t have to worry about damaging the cable here since it can be replaced easily.

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro wireless headset comes with haptic audio feedback and virtual surround sound for better immersion.

razer kraken pro v2 vs v3 pro features and connectivity
Both gaming headsets are equipped with 50mm drivers.

Features-wise, the Razer Kraken Pro V2 are quite basic. They don’t have any distinct or exclusive features—they are standard stereo gaming headphones with a wired 3.5mm connection. They are cross platform and will work on any gaming platform with a 3.5mm connection, including PCs, game consoles and mobile devices.

On the other hand, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro are much more feature-rich. The most notable of which is their HyperSense feature. This feature takes sound cues from the game and converts them to touch sensory feedback. You’ll be able to feel varying levels of vibration depending on what’s happening in the game. Needless to say, this can feel quite immersive, but it can also feel fatiguing if you are playing action-packed games.

Aside from their HyperSense feature, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro also supports THX Spatial Audio for virtual surround sound and RGB Chroma lighting. The virtual surround sound allows you to discern where sounds are coming from, and this, in tandem with their HyperSense haptic feedback can provide a pretty immersive gaming experience.

They have a similar sound profile, but the Razer Kraken V3 Pro can give you a more immersive experience because of its virtual surround and haptic feedback.

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro come with Razer Hypersense haptic feedback and wireless connectivity.

Both headsets sport 50mm drivers and they have a sound profile that’s typical of gaming headsets. The bass is a bit overemphasized along with the mid, while the treble is underemphasized. The boosted bass and mids can make action games with explosions and other action-packed sequences more immersive without drowning out mid-range frequencies such as footsteps and dialogue.

However, when it comes to listening to music, the overall sound is quite boomy with less details. The highs can sound veiled and some details are lost in the mix. This is expected with gaming headsets that prioritize the lows and mids over the highs.

As mentioned earlier, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro comes with HyperSense haptic feedback and THX Spatial Audio for virtual surround sound. For multiplayer games where directional audio matters, the Kraken V3 Pro definitely has the advantage over the Kraken Pro V2 since the latter do not have virtual surround sound.

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro can last up to 44 hours with the haptic feedback and RGB lighting disabled and up to 11 hours with both features enabled. You’ll get something in-between when just one feature is enabled.

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro offer better immersion while the Kraken Pro V2 are your standard gaming headset with stereo sound.

It will work with any gaming platform with a 3.5mm connection so you don’t have to worry about compatibility and other features not working on some platforms.

On the other hand, if you want a more immersive audio experience when gaming, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro will give you that. Their HyperSense haptic feedback is quite unique as it allows you to feel the intensity of the sound of what’s happening on your screen.
