Design

The Logitech G Pro X’s build quality is superior to that of the Razer BlackShark V2.

In terms of build quality, the Logitech G Pro X has the edge over the Razer BlackShark V2 since its frame is sturdier. Made from steel and aluminum, the headband and the fork of the Logitech G Pro X are of higher quality and while the earcups are made of plastic, they still have some metal parts that contribute to their excellent build quality.

Meanwhile, the Razer BlackShark V2 has an acceptable build quality, but Razer could have done more to improve the headset’s durability. The potential weak points with this headset are the hinges that connect the earcups to the headband. They used thin wireframe and plastic for these parts and while this relaxes the clamping force of the headset for better comfort, durability is a bit compromised.

As far as design goes, the two have a minimalist aesthetic, which is a welcome change from “gamer” headsets that have colorful designs. The Razer BlackShark V2 has a black color scheme with a bit of neon green to reiterate Razer’s colors. Meanwhile, the Logitech G Pro X also comes in black but with metal plates at the side for a modern and sleek look.

Comfort-wise, the two come with plenty of padding on the ear cups and their headbands. They used soft memory foam for comfort. The Razer BlackShark V2’s padding is covered with a breathable fabric while Logitech gives you two pairs—velour and leatherette.

Features and Software

Both the Razer Synapse and Logitech G Hub software are good, but the addition of Blue Vo!ce support for Logitech headsets allows for more customizations.

The Razer BlackShark V2 (left) comes with THX Spatial Audio while the Logitech G Pro X (right) makes use of DTS HEADPHONE:X 2.0 for their virtual surround sound.

While these gaming headsets are compatible with a lot of platforms (more on that later), they are primarily designed for PC use since you’ll need to use their software in order to get all of their features working.

The Razer Synapse 3 and the Logitech G Hub software are both excellent and they allow you to play with various settings and enable the headsets’ virtual surround sound. Razer makes use of THX Spatial Audio while the Logitech G Pro X comes with DTS HEADPHONE:X 2.0. While there are subtle differences between the two virtual surround sound solutions, ultimately, they offer similar results. They give players the ability to discern where sounds come from for a more immersive gaming experience and a competitive edge.

The two also have EQ settings that you can tweak to your liking. Sound presets tuned by THX are available on the BlackShark V2 while Logitech offers sound profiles used by pro gamers. There are plenty of customizations that can be made with either gaming headset.

A neat feature that you only get with the Logitech G Pro X is its support for Blue Vo!ce. With Blue Vo!ce, the sound of the Logitech G Pro X’s microphone can be greatly improved. There are various features that you can enable such as high-pass filter, de-esser and more. All of these features considerably improve the sound of the Logitech G Pro X’s mic.

Sound Quality

The Razer BlackShark V2 sounds a tad better than the Logitech G Pro X, especially in the treble range.

When gaming, the two headsets output excellent sound. With their virtual surround sound feature, they can give you accurate directional audio that lets you have an advantage when playing online. For single player games, the accurate directional sound of the two headsets can provide a more immersive gaming experience.

When listening to music, the Razer BlackShark V2 sounds a bit better than the Logitech G Pro X. As mentioned in our comparison of the Razer BlackShark V2 and V2 Pro, the BlackShark V2 has a neutral sound with a slightly emphasized treble and bass. The bass is not overpowering but you can definitely feel the lows. The mids are accurate and forward, while the highs are slightly emphasized that can cause some sibilance and harshness.

Similarly, the Logitech G Pro X also has a slightly emphasized bass and its mids are accurate. However, its treble range is a bit inconsistent and that results in a slightly less detailed sound. Sometimes, the sound can even become dark and veiled.

Compatibility

The two gaming headsets have the same connectivity options and compatibility with gaming platforms.

Here are the accessories that come with the Razer BlackShark V2 (left) and Logitech G Pro X (right).

The Razer BlackShark V2 and the Logitech G Pro X are both wired gaming headsets that come with a USB sound card and a 3.5mm analog connection. The only difference between the two when it comes to connectivity is that the cable on the Razer BlackShark V2 is fixed, while the Logitech G Pro X has a removable audio cable. Having a removable cable is definitely an advantage since it’s easier to replace if it ever gets damaged.

Both headsets are primarily for PC use, but they can also be used on any device that has a 3.5mm jack. That said, most of their features are disabled when connected via 3.5mm analog since they need the USB soundcard, as well as their respective software, to unlock their features.

Verdict

The Logitech G Pro X has the better build quality and its mic sounds better, but the Razer BlackShark V2 is cheaper and it has a more accurate sound.

Amazon product

Both headsets are great at what they do and whichever one you pick, you won’t be disappointed. That said, if you want a gaming headset with an excellent build quality and you don’t mind paying more, the Logitech G Pro X is a very good option. It sounds good and with its features, you’ll certainly have an enjoyable and immersive gaming experience. If you want a gaming headset without spending too much money, the Razer BlackShark V2 is the smarter choice. While it does have a slightly disappointing build quality, you won’t break it as long as you don’t abuse it. It sounds better than the Logitech G Pro X and it has similar features that also give you an immersive gaming experience.
