Design

Both the OnePlus 10 Pro and Google Pixel 6 Pro have excellent build qualities, with a slight advantage going to the latter.

The camera module arrangement is one of the few design differences between the OnePlus 10 Pro (left) and Google Pixel 6 Pro (right).

The OnePlus 10 Pro is a well-designed phone that doesn’t stray away from what’s now the standard phone design. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus front and an aluminum frame. At the back, the Chinese phone manufacturer opted to go with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which is a step down, but not really a deal-breaker. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

One thing we like about its design is its slightly textured back, so it’s not as slippery as other phones with glass backs. The camera bump is located at the top left corner, but this time, it’s wrapped around the phone’s edges, so that’s something new.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro, on the other hand, has a somewhat fresh design, at least when compared to previous gen Pixel phones. It now has sharper corners and a curved screen. The phone has an aluminum frame paired with Gorilla Glass Victus at the front and back, so it’s quite durable. However, as with most glass phones, the Pixel 6 Pro is quite slippery and it is a fingerprint magnet.

The most noteworthy design change with the Pixel 6 Pro is its camera bump at the back. Instead of having a camera array on one corner, the phone’s camera setup spans the entire width of the phone for a fresh new look. That said, not everyone will like this new design approach by Google.

Display

Both the OnePlus 10 Pro and Google Pixel 6 Pro sport 1440p AMOLED screens with a max refresh rate of 120Hz.

The OnePlus 10 Pro (left) and Google Pixel 6 Pro (right) have both have 6.7-inch screens.

When it comes to their screens, these two phones are similar, with some minor differences in size, aspect ratio and resolution. The OnePlus 10 Pro sports a 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 6 Pro’s screen is 6.71-inch in size, has a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

Both phones’ displays are LTPO AMOLED, have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and they support HDR10+ content. The differences between the two phones’ screens are not significant enough to matter, and they offer the same display quality.

Features

The OnePlus 10 Pro sports the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset while the Google Pixel 6 Pro is equipped with Google’s custom chipset.

Both smartphones are available in three colors.

In keeping with their standard practices with their flagship phones, OnePlus equipped the OnePlus 10 Pro with the latest Snapdragon chipset—Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It’s the fastest chipset by Qualcomm to date. On the other hand, Google opted to design their own custom chipset, named Google Tensor. It is faster than the Snapdragon 765G by about 80%, but the thing is, the 765G is a mid-range chip that’s also on its way out due to how old it is.

In terms of raw power, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is definitely better than Google’s custom chipset. The Google Tensor chipset is not bad though, and is still an excellent performer especially when it comes to AI-powered features by Google. Both chipsets will be relevant for at least the next few years, so you’ll still get your money’s worth with either one.

Camera

As for their cameras, both phones have three-camera arrays at the back and a selfie camera. The OnePlus 10 Pro features a 48MP wide camera, an 8MP telephoto lens and a 50MP ultrawide. On the other hand, The Google Pixel 6 Pro has a 50MP wide main shooter, a 48MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.

When it comes to camera performance, the Google Pixel 6 Pro definitely has the edge. Photos taken with the Pixel phone came out with better exposure, more natural colors and more clarity. Its night mode performance is also better. Meanwhile, images taken with the OnePlus 10 Pro came out brighter and more washed out.

Configurations

You can get the OnePlus 10 Pro in four configurations—512GB 12GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM and 128GB 8GB RAM. The Google Pixel 6 Pro is available in 512GB 12GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM and128GB 12GB RAM configurations.

Battery

The OnePlus 10 Pro can last longer and charge faster than the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

In the battery department, the OnePlus 10 Pro is the clear winner. Even though the two phones sport a 5,000mAh battery, the OnePlus 10 Pro can last longer. It can last around 11 hours while the Google Pixel 6 Pro lasts a little over 9 hours, and this is with both displays set to 120Hz.

Charging speed is another area where the OnePlus 10 Pro dominates the Google Pixel 6 Pro. The former supports 80W fast wired charging, and it comes with a 65W wall charger. Meanwhile, the Google 6 Pro only supports 30W wired charging, and it doesn’t come with a charging brick.

It’s the same story when it comes to wireless charging. The OnePlus 10 Pro supports 50W wireless charging speeds, while the Google 6 Pro supports only up to 23W charging speeds.

Verdict

Both the OnePlus 10 Pro and Google Pixel 6 Pro have their strengths and weaknesses, so choosing one will depend on the factors that you value more.

OnePlus 10 Pro

Better overall raw performance and longer battery life

Pixel 6 Pro

Better camera and stock Android is always a plus

As far as flagship-level phones are concerned, these two don’t disappoint, especially at their price points. Choose the OnePlus 10 Pro if you want excellent hardware and performance that goes with long-lasting battery life and fast charging speeds. Alternatively, go with the Google 6 Pro if you prefer a phone that has stock Android and better camera performance. It’s not as powerful as the OnePlus 10 Pro, but it still offers excellent performance.
