Nespresso Vertuo Next

The smallest Nespresso VertuoLine coffee machine

The Nespresso Vertuo Next has a slimmer profile than other VertuoLine coffee machines.

If you’re looking for the most lightweight and space-saving Nespresso VertuoLine model, you should look no further than the new Vertuo Next. At only 8.8 pounds and with a width of 5.5 inches, it’s easy to move from room to room and it won’t require too much room, either. Its water tank is attached to a fixed position behind it, unlike other VertuoLine machines, and it’s the smallest too, holding only up to a liter of water.

In addition, the Nespresso Vertuo Next can also store the least number of used capsules, around 6 coffee pods and 10 espresso pods. However, this advanced coffee machine has something no other VertuoLine model has: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. This lets you keep it up-to-date with new capsule recipe settings along with the potential for new smart features.

Key differences from other VertuoLine coffee machines:

  • Smallest model at only 5.5 inches wide and 12 inches tall
  • Most lightweight model at 8.8 lb
  • Smallest water tank and capsule container capacity
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled

Nespresso by De Vertuo Next
Nespresso introduces the VERTUO NEXT, the latest VERTUO Nespresso coffee maker with an all-new design and colors for the ultimate brewing experience. In addition to its original espressos, NESPRESSO VERTUO NEXT produces an extraordinary cup of coffee with a smooth layer of crema, the signature of a truly great cup of coffee.

Nespresso Vertuo

The original Nespresso Vertuo coffee and espresso machine

The water tank and drip tray were originally built into the Nespresso Vertuo.

You can see some significant design changes from the first Nespresso Vertuo coffee maker when comparing it with how the Vertuo Next looks today. Its dual water tanks are integrated into the machine and feature a ridged design, which may make it difficult to tell how much water is left (hence the transparent glass tanks of newer models). The drip tray where you place your cup or mug is also part of the Vertuo’s base instead of being removable in later machines.

In terms of coffee brewing features, the Nespresso Vertuo was only capable of extracting three cup sizes, 1.35 oz espresso, 8 oz coffee, and 14 oz alto. Since Vertuo capsules have recipe instructions printed onto their barcodes, it’s now capable of brewing the two newer sizes, 2.7 oz double espresso and 5 oz gran lungo. Its larger size also makes it capable of holding twice as many used capsules as the Vertuo Next.

Key differences from the Nespresso Vertuo Next:

  • Bigger and bulkier at 8.3 inches wide and 12 inches tall
  • Heavier build at 10.85 lb
  • Slightly larger dual water tanks
  • Bigger capsule container capacity
  • Built-in tank and tray base

Nespresso VertuoPlus

The Nespresso VertuoLine machine with removable components

The Vertuo Next borrows many design elements from the VertuoPlus (above).

Among all of the Nespresso VertuoLine models, the Vertuo Next follows the design of the VertuoPlus the most. It’s considerably slimmer than the original Vertuo but is slightly taller. Where the Vertuo water tanks attach to its sides, the VertuoPlus has a transparent water tank with a swivel base, so you can move it to the side if that makes it fit your counter space better. In front, the drip tray is removable and is height-adjustable, so you can place smaller cups closer to the spout.

Another big difference is the lid mechanism of the Nespresso VertuoPlus. It’s motorized to open by pressing the top button, whereas the non-VertuoPlus machines have spring-loaded mechanisms that open with a twist latch. This can make the VertuoPlus feel fancier than other models.

Key differences from the Nespresso Vertuo Next:

  • Taller at 12.8 inches
  • Heavier build at 9.72 lb
  • Slightly larger water tank with a swivel base
  • Bigger capsule container capacity
  • Motorized lid mechanism

Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe

The bigger and better Nespresso VertuoPlus

The VertuoPlus Deluxe is virtually identical to the VertuoPlus except for its larger water tank.

The only real difference between the VertuoPlus and VertuoPlus Deluxe is the latter’s larger water tank. It can hold up to 60 oz or 1.8 liters of water, so refills are less frequent. It’s highly desirable if you prefer alto capsules and large mugs of coffee. Other than that, the two are virtually the same, even in size. Well, you actually have different color choices for both, with the Deluxe being available in flashier finishes such as titanium and silver.

Key differences from the Nespresso Vertuo Next:

  • Same as VertuoPlus
  • Larger water tank capacity at 60 oz
  • Metallic color choices

Nespresso Vertuo Evoluo

The bigger Nespresso Vertuo

The Vertuo Evoluo is essentially a more powerful Vertuo.

The Nespresso Vertuo Evoluo is a larger version of the original Vertuo. They have very similar designs, especially the water tanks, which are sized up to hold up to 54 oz. However, while the spring mechanism for the brew head is similar, the Evoluo has a flatter top, and its drip tray is removable like the other Vertuo models. It has a few chromed details that make it stand out a bit more on your table.

Key differences from the Nespresso Vertuo Next:

  • Same as Vertuo
  • Larger water tank capacity at 54 oz

📌 What is the difference between Nespresso Vertuo and VertuoLine?

The Nespresso VertuoLine is a type of pod-based coffee machines using a new extraction method and blend recognition features. It’s created specifically for the North American market, with new dome-shaped capsules containing blends popular in the region. The Nespresso Vertuo is the introductory coffee machine under the VertuoLine series.

📌 Which Nespresso Vertuo machine is best?

We’d recommend either the Nespresso VertuoPlus, for its more impressive crema and hotter results, or the Nespresso Vertuo Next, for a more affordable option with extra connectivity features.

📌 Is VertuoLine better than Original Line?

Both have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Nespresso VertuoLine capsules produce more crema and are available in more cup sizes. The Nespresso OriginalLine, because it’s been in the market for a long time, has more blend varieties, including third-party options. Furthermore, the Nespresso OriginalLine pods are closer in taste to authentic espresso.

📌 Is Nespresso VertuoLine worth it?

If you like enjoying a quick cup of coffee, the single-serve Nespresso VertuoLine machines will more than satisfy. Though capsules can be quite expensive, they ensure you’re not wasting any drop when compared with other coffee brewers. You won’t have to worry about getting the blend just right, since it’s a single-button coffee machine.
