Design & Build
The Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe comes with a stainless steel pourer while the Vertuo Next Premium only has a plastic one.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe and Vertuo Next Premium both have the same simple and elegant design. These coffee machines measure 5.5-inches wide, 16.9-inches long, 12.4-inches tall, and weigh roughly 13 pounds. On the front side of the machine, you have the Nespresso pourer and an adjustable cup holder. On the pourer, you have two simplistic functions: an open/close lever and a start/stop button. After making coffee, when you slide the open lever, the used capsule (pod) is automatically ejected back into the internal storage container. This container can be accessed on the left side of the machine. On the back of the coffee machine, you also have a transparent water tank that can hold up to 1.1 liters of water. You can detach the entire water tank for easier refilling and cleaning.
The difference in design between the standard Nespresso Vertuo Next and the Vertuo Next Premium is that the Premium model has a metal cup holder instead of a plastic one. It also has chrome color accents giving it a more premium look. Just like the Next Premium, the Next Deluxe also has a metal cup holder and chrome color accents, but it goes further with a stainless steel pourer instead of a plastic one.
Coffee Quality & Capsules (Pods)
The Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe and Vertuo Next Premium employ a special CentriFusion technique with Vertuo coffee capsules to make excellent blends.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next series make some really good brews. Coffee making technique and coffee quality is the same with the standard version, the Premium, and the Deluxe. Aside from the high-quality coffee mixtures inside the Vertuo capsules, the machine, with its well-calibrated brew settings and unique extraction process, contributes greatly to the taste and quality of the coffee. The Vertuo series uses a brewing technique called CentriFusion. The way this works is water is injected into the coffee capsule and infused into the mixture while the capsule spins at around 7,000rpm. The centrifugal force generated by the spinning extracts the contents from the capsule. But even before all this begins, the machine reads the barcode on the capsule and calibrates itself according to the type of coffee capsule you’ve inserted. It will determine how much water is to be used, how hot the water should be, and how much spinning time is needed. This results in excellent coffee with its full aroma and a perfect crema every time.
The Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machines only take Nespresso Vertuo capsules. The capsules are made entirely from aluminum, making them easy to recycle. There are five capsule sizes, 414ml (Alto), 230ml (Mug), 150ml (Gran Lungo), 80ml (Double Espresso), and 40ml (Espresso). Nespresso currently has around 40 unique capsules for the Vertuo from barista creations to special crafts from around the world. Since the Vertuo series is fairly new, the best places to find capsules will be the Nespresso website and large coffee shop outlets. And since there is a patent on the Vertuo capsule design, you shouldn’t expect third-party capsules anytime soon.
Miscellaneous
The Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machines are Bluetooth enabled and have special cleaning features

Cleaning
The Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machines have a water brew cleaning feature. To clean your machine, simply fill the tank with water, empty the internal capsule storage, place a large cup under the pourer, and press the power button three times. This activates the cleaning function. Warm water is passed through the entire machine to clean out any old coffee bits that might have gotten stuck inside. When the water dripping into your cup is already clear, you can stop the cleaning by pressing the power button again. If you want your machine to be extra clean, give the inside a wipe down as well to remove any coffee bits your machine might have missed.
Connectivity
You can connect your smartphone to your Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machine. Nespresso states that the main reason for this is so that updating your machine’s firmware is possible. However, aside from that, there seems to be no use in connecting your machine to your smartphone or tablet. The app has a water status indicator but it doesn’t seem to work at all. Hopefully, Nespresso adds additional Bluetooth functions in the near future.
Verdict
For those who are conscious about aesthetics and have some extra cash, the Vertuo Next Deluxe with its stainless steel pourer will be a perfect choice. But those who want to be more practical should get the Vertuo Next Premium with its more affordable plastic pourer design.
The Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe and Vertuo Next Premium are two excellent coffee machines that use CentriFusion to give you the perfect blend every time. Owning one of these machines also lets you tap into Nespresso’s range of high-quality Vertuo coffee creations.
Aesthetics is the only difference between the Vertuo Next Deluxe and Vertuo Next Premium. Performance, size, weight, and everything else is the same. So choosing between the two models is only a matter of preference. If aesthetic is important to you, the Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe with its stainless steel pourer might be worth the additional $20 or so. If you want to save some cash, you should get the still premium looking Vertuo Next Premium.
