The Logitech StreamCam Plus is basically just the StreamCam minus the tripod.

Logitech made sure of the versatility of the StreamCam by making flexible mounting options possible.

Compact and stylish are two words that can best describe Logitech StreamCam’s design. Unlike Logitech’s other bulkier webcams (such as the Logitech C922 Pro that we featured in a separate review), the StreamCam has all its essentials squeezed in a small cube. Even the dual front-facing microphones are placed behind the sleek fabric cover that surrounds the camera’s lens.

The Logitech StreamCam Plus can almost be placed anywhere as it can be clipped onto a computer screen or fixed on the tripod that comes with the package. The additional tripod is actually the only thing that’s different between the StreamCam and the StreamCam Plus. Originally, only the tripod mount was included with the StreamCam package. You may buy the tripod at a later time, especially if you still don’t see the need for it. However, some users have mentioned that it’s always out of stock in shops.

Video Quality

With the Logitech StreamCam, content creators can stream and record in full HD 1080p at 60 fps.

Stream or record videos for Facebook or Instagram stories by simply turning the StreamCam from landscape to portrait mode.

Logitech StreamCam boasts a full HD camera that supports 1080p recording or streaming at 60 fps. Another plus feature of the StreamCam is its autofocus feature that’s very helpful for content creators who move a lot, such as musicians or makeup vloggers. It also has a built-in facial tracking feature, though refocusing is not as instant as other cameras.

But probably what budding streamers will love about the Logitech StreamCam is the easy flipping from landscape to portrait mode. With Facebook and Instagram stories becoming a trend nowadays, this is not a surprise at all. It should also be worth noting that full HD videos are still possible even in the 9:16 format.

Audio Performance

Logitech StreamCam’s built-in dual microphones provide decent audio to live streams and recorded video.

The dual omnidirectional microphones are placed at the front and can pick up audio both in stereo or dual mono.

It seems that the guys over at Logitech focused on the StreamCam’s awesome video capturing features but have decided to keep the audio recording quality just decent. Sure, it has a dual omnidirectional mic positioned in front which gets the job done if you’re always close to the camera. Yes, the Logitech StreamCam’s audio quality can pass for a video call or a newbie’s live stream. For pros like gamers and musicians, adding either a condenser mic or dynamic mic in the set-up is most recommended.

Software and Connectivity

Logitech StreamCam’s settings and video recordings can be conveniently adjusted with the Logitech Capture software.

StreamCam’s smart auto-framing feature is powered by the Logitech Capture software. The cam is also optimized to work efficiently with popular streaming platforms and content creation websites.

Logitech Capture is Logitech’s very own software package that makes other video recording features possible for the Logitech StreamCam. For one, fine-tuning your video recording session can be done through the program. This includes changing the resolution, FPS, image stabilization, auto-framing, and using chroma key effects.

It’s easy to use the Logitech StreamCam as a video source for most streaming software like Open Broadcasting Software (OBS), XSplit, and Streamlabs. This will probably be good news for those using these programs to stream their videos on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms.

And to guarantee a fast and reliable connection, the Logitech StreamCam uses Type-C USB cables. This could be a disadvantage for those with older computers but this can easily be resolved by using an affordable USB 3.0 to Type C adaptor.

If you think you will need to mount your StreamCam on a tripod, go for the Logitech StreamCam Plus.

Amazon product

Logitech definitely had streamers and content creators in mind when it launched the StreamCam. It looks so modern and stylish which is typically what the younger market likes. Not to mention the add-on features that make live streaming easy. Still, the question remains… Which should you get?

It all boils down to whether you need the tripod or not. If you feel that you would need the tripod and your budget allows you to spend some extra bucks for it, then go for the Logitech StreamCam Plus. Meanwhile, if you’re more comfortable shooting yourself from a higher angle, then the StreamCam is the one for you.

Whichever of the two packages you’ll choose, you’re sure to get the same impressive features that will surely make your next live stream a hit among your followers.
