Design and Comfort
The LG TONE Free FP9 and TCL MOVEAUDIO S600 are comfortable to wear for long periods.
Both earbuds have a similar form factor in that they have stems, but the LG TONE Free FP9 have shorter ones, so it doesn’t stick out as much, if nothing else. It also feels more premium to the touch with its black matte plastic build along with a glossy strip on each earbud. In comparison, the TCL MOVEAUDIO S600 is shinier, and it’s just glossier all around, which might not be up most people’s alley.
What these two have got going for them is a secure and comfortable fit. Needless to say, this varies from person to person, but if you manage to get the right fit (i.e., the correct ear tip size), they don’t feel like they’ll ever fall out of your ears. Despite that, they don’t create a seal that’s too tight that it causes pain after a while, and even then, it’s safe to say that most people can run with them on without worrying about losing an earbud. Speaking of, the TONE Free FP9 has a water resistance rating of IPX4, while the MOVEAUDIO S600 has IP54.
It’s worth mentioning that the TONE Free FP9 has medical-grade silicone ear gels. In other words, it meets certain standards, proving they’re hypoallergenic and are less likely to cause irritations. It has a sort of “sanitary theme,” for want of a better phrase, which we’ll get to in a bit.
The TONE Free FP9 is available only in black. On the other hand, the MOVEAUDIO S600 comes in white, gray and black, giving you more options to suit your preferences.
Audio Performance
Neither the LG TONE Free FP9 nor the TCL MOVEAUDIO S600 is geared toward audiophiles.
LG partnered with Meridian for the TONE Free FP9, and the earbuds have five equalizer presets right off the bat: Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost and 3D Sound Stage. For starters, Immersive expands the imaging a bit. Natural provides a clean and neutral sound where neither the bass drowns nor overwhelms the treble and vice-versa. Bass Boost and Treble Boost are pretty self-explanatory. 3D Sound Stage widens the soundstage for a surround sound experience. If none of these work for you, you can tinker with the equalizer yourself and save up to two settings.
In contrast, the TCL MOVEAUDIO S600 is lacking in the personalization department. It doesn’t have presets, much an equalizer you can use to change up its audio profile. However, it does have a consumer-friendly sound that accentuates highs and delivers punchy bass.
As noted, both have active noise cancellation, and by the same token, they have a transparency mode too so you can hear your surroundings without taking them off. They’re decent in this regard, but they can’t compete with the likes of the Sony WF-1000XM4. At the very least, the TONE Free FP9 has Low and High ANC settings, as well as Listening and Conversation ambient sound modes, the latter of which lets you hear voices more clearly and dials down music volume.
For the record, the TONE Free FP9 has Bluetooth 5.2, while the MOVEAUDIO S600 has Bluetooth 5.0. Both support only SBC and AAC codecs too.

Features and Battery Life
The LG TONE Free FP9 has more features than the TCL MOVEAUDIO S600.
To start things off, the LG TONE Free FP9 has a couple of features that make it pretty unique. As mentioned earlier, it has a UVnano charging case where a UV LED sanitizes the speaker mesh of the earbuds. According to the company, the process to fully clean it takes only five minutes, which goes hand in hand with its fast-charging capability of providing an hour’s worth of playback in five minutes.
Moreover, it has Whispering Mode that essentially turns its right earbud into a mic. During a call in a noisy environment, you can hold it near your mouth and whisper, and your voice will still be heard clearly on the other line. Potentially, this function comes in handy in quiet places too. Also, it comes with an AUX to USB-C cable, allowing you to plug its charging case into devices without Bluetooth and turn it into a transmitter.
Both of these earbuds have ear detection to automatically pause or resume media playback when you remove or wear them. They also support single earbud use and mono audio, as well as Google Fast Pair. However, only the TONE Free FP9 has multipoint pairing.
As for battery life, the TONE Free FP9 can go up to 10 hours or 24 hours with its charging case with ANC off. With ANC on, those numbers dwindle down to 6 hours and 15 hours, respectively. The TCL MOVEAUDIO S600 can last up to 8 hours or 32 hours with its case, and with ANC on, it can keep running for up to 6.2 hours or 24 hours with the case. It has quick charging too (10 minutes in the case provides 1 hour of playback) and wireless charging, which the TONE Free FP9 doesn’t have.
Ease of Use
The TCL MOVEAUDIO S600’s controls aren’t as customizable as the LG TONE Free FP9’s.
The LG TONE Free FP9 lets you customize what one, two or three taps do, which is par for the course for most true wireless earbuds. However, the same can’t exactly be said about the TCL MOVEAUDIO S600. Sure, you can customize its controls but only up to a certain degree. Basically, you can choose which earbud controls the volume and which one can turn on ANC and play or pause music. The thing is, you can’t change what action will trigger these functions. For instance, a single tap turns the volume up and a long tap turns it down, and you can’t change this.
Verdict
The LG TONE Free FP9 is more polished and sets itself apart from the TCL MOVEAUDIO S600 with one-of-a-kind features.
All in all, the LG TONE Free FP9 is the better pair of ANC true wireless earbuds here. It has multipoint pairing and surround sound, as well as nifty features like UVnano, Whispering Mode and the ability to turn into a Bluetooth transmitter.
