Construction and Materials

Brooklyn Bedding has the upper hand over Leesa for using proprietary materials that provide maximum comfort.

Both Leesa (left) and Brooklyn Bedding (right) mattresses are 10 inches thick and made up of 3 layers.

The Leesa mattress is made up of 3 layers which add up to a total thickness of 10 inches. At the very top, you’ll find a 2-inch layer of breathable foam with pinholes in it for that extra cool and comfortable feel. Below that is a 2-inch layer of regular memory foam, responsible for providing deep compression, pressure relief, and body contouring. This layer is particularly helpful for those who are on the heavier side. As for the last layer, it’s the firmest and thickest (it’s 6 inches to be exact) of them all and acts as the foundation of the entire mattress, supporting the other two layers other above it.

As for the Brooklyn Bedding mattress, it’s 10 inches thick as well although it makes use of patented materials. The topmost layer is 2 inches of TitanFlex foam, designed to provide breathability and bounce. It’s also super dense so it hugs you snugly as you sleep. The second layer is 2 inches as well but it has more of a firmness to it, giving the mattress its deep compression capabilities. The third and last layer is 6 inches thick and is equipped with what Brooklyn Bedding calls Ascension pocketed coils which are meant to help decrease motion transfer and keep the spine in proper alignment.

Firmness, Comfort, and Support

Brooklyn Bedding provides a wide range of firmness options while Leesa only has one.

Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are offered in soft, medium, and firm options.

The Leesa mattress has a medium-firm construction that scores about a 6 on the firmness scale (with 1 being the softest and 10 the firmest). A lot of customers go for this level of firmness which makes the Leesa mattress a safe and universal option. As mentioned, Leesa mattresses are made up mostly of memory foam and other types of foam and while these materials are great at molding to your body, they don’t provide much support. Fortunately, Leesa found a way around this problem by adding in a core support foam layer which acts as a strong foundation for the mattress. This way, you get to enjoy the pressure relieving properties of memory foam while getting the proper lift that you need.

While Leesa only has one firmness option, Brooklyn Bedding has three, allowing you to choose according to your sleeping habits and preferences. If you’re a side sleeper who likes the feeling of being hugged while you snooze, the soft option is the best for you. For the stomach and back sleepers out there who need extra support for their spine, the firm option is perfect for you. As for their medium option, it’s suitable for all types of sleeping positions as it provides a good combination of support and comfort. Speaking of comfort, all of these firmness options come with two layers of Brooklyn Bedding’s patented TitanFlex foam which combine the best characteristics of latex and memory foam.

Temperature Control

Brooklyn Bedding has a slight edge by using a patented formula to regulate body heat.

The top two layers of Brooklyn Bedding mattresses are infused with a patented formula called Titanium Gel.

Because chunky and dense foams have a tendency to trap body heat, Leesa makes sure to stay away from those. Instead, their mattresses are constructed with lightweight but high quality foam materials that are extremely breathable and allow constant airflow. To boot, the top layer of Leesa mattresses are aerated with holes all throughout its surface which are able to capture fresh air. As you move around during the night, the fresh air is then released against your skin, making you feel extra cool and fresh. So if you’re a sweaty sleeper, you don’t have to worry about feeling uncomfortable anymore.

Brooklyn Bedding also has measures in place to make sure that you never have sweaty nights. They actually made their own special formula called Titanium Gel which they put into the top two layers of their mattresses. This patented invention makes sure that your body temperature remains neutral all throughout the night and that no warm spots form on the mattress.

Brooklyn Bedding wins over Leesa for going the extra mile to create exclusive materials for their mattresses.

Both Leesa and Brooklyn Bedding are great mattress options for those who want to improve their sleep quality. They both feature hybrid constructions, are made with top quality materials, and can guarantee temperature control to some degree. If we had to pick a winner though, it would have to be Brooklyn Bedding.

For one, they’ve gone the extra mile to develop proprietary materials that are able to make the sleeping experience that much more comfortable. Also, we have to give it to them for providing a wide range of firmness options, allowing their customers to find the mattress that suits their needs the best. You do, however, have to pay a bit more for a Brooklyn Bedding mattress but we think the extra hundred bucks is worth it.
