Leesa Hybrid Construction

The Leesa Hybrid is an 11″ foam + pocket springs hybrid mattress.

You can see the separation of the 5 layers + cover of the Leesa Hybrid.

The Leesa Hybrid, formerly known as the Leesa Sapira, is an 11″ mattress with a 5-layer construction. The mattress is covered with a quilted white and gray fabric made of a polyester and rayon blend. It is very soft and comfortable and it looks very good.

The materials used in the construction of the mattress is as follows:

  • First Layer: The top most layer of the Leesa Hybrid is a 1.5″ hole-punched premium foam for airflow and initial comfort when you lay down.
  • Second Layer: Just below the premium foam is a 1.5″ 4lb density memory foam for body contouring and pressure relief.
  • Third Layer: An inch of foam to support the coils in the next layer.
  • Fourth Layer: This layer is made of 6″ coils for support, bounce, responsiveness and durability.
  • Fifth Layer: Another inch of foam to support the coils.

The construction of the Leesa Hybrid is a tried and tested combination of high quality foams for comfort and coils for support. Hybrid foam and spring mattresses are still very popular to this day for the simple reason that they are very comfortable and durable. The Leesa Hybrid are both those things.

Leesa Legend Construction

Designed by Leesa to be a luxury mattress, the Leesa Legend has a unique construction featuring a micro-coil and foam layer.

Leesa’s design of the Legend mattress is very effective and provides great support.

The Leesa Legend is a 12″ mattress with a 6-layer build. The mattress cover is made from a combination of organic cotton, merino wool and fiber from recycled plastic bottles. The end product is a very soft cover that wicks moisture away, to help you sleep without getting hot. It’s a very nice looking cover as well.

Here is a detailed look at the layers that make up the mattress.

  • First Layer: The top layer of the Legend is a 1″ hole-punched foam that’s very similar to the one in the Leesa Hybrid. The only difference is the thickness. It provides breathability and comfort.
  • Second Layer: The second layer is a 1″ memory foam. This is for body contouring and pressure relief.
  • Third Layer: The third layer is where the Legend separates itself from the Hybrid. This 1.5″ layer is made up of micro-coils and foam, with the micro-coils covering the ends and the foam in the center. The purpose here is to provide different levels of support for the lower back, hips and your upper body.
  • Fourth Layer: A 1″ transition foam.
  • Fifth Layer: 6″ pocketed coils for support, bounce and durability.
  • Sixth Layer: The sixth layer is a 1″ foam that acts as the base of the mattress.

As you can see, the construction of the Leesa Legend is kind of unique, specifically, the third layer with the combination of foam and micro-coils. It’s actually very effective and does provide a different feel for the lower and upper body. All in all, this mattress has a very good design that combines comfort, support and durability.

Comfort and Support

The Leesa Legend and Hybrid are both very comfortable mattresses but when it comes to support, the Legend is better.

A good mattress is one that will allow you to sleep without compromising your posture.

The Leesa Hybrid is rated as medium when it comes to firmness. This means that it is neither too soft nor too firm, it’s balanced. As for how it feels when you lay down, it’s very comfortable and even though it has a layer of memory foam, it doesn’t suck you in. The top layer provides most of the comfort and the memory foam layer gives the pressure relief as well as the mild contouring.

For support, the use of pocketed coils in the base of the mattress and the memory foam layer on top provides very good weight distribution. The springs also add bounciness and responsiveness, making it easier to move around while sleeping.

The Leesa Legend is rated as medium as well. However, it is slightly softer than the Hybrid. If we rate it on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is plush and 10 is very firm, the Hybrid is at 6 and the Legend is at 5. It’s a soft mattress that also provides very good support.

The foam and micro-coil layer does a very good job of providing different levels of support for your lower back, hips and your shoulder area. Your spine is in an optimal position while you sleep due to how it’s designed. Same with the Hybrid, the pocketed coils in the base adds bounciness and responsiveness as well as durability.

Both mattresses come with a 10 year warranty.

Verdict

The Leesa Legend is the better mattress and you should consider it even though it is more expensive.
