Beyond the Dutch ovens and stockpots, Le Creuset also has braisers in its arsenal. And then there’s the Everyday Pan, which doesn’t seem all too different at first glance. We put the two side by side to clear up just what exactly makes one distinct from the other, no matter how small and minor.

Main Differences

Both are made out of enameled cast iron and made in France.

The Everyday Pan (in photo) is available in exclusive colors.

The two are pretty much the same across the board. They’re crafted with enameled cast iron, and their country of origin is France, among other similarities.

However, the Everyday Pan in particular is an exclusive to the retailer Crate and Barrel. As an added perk, it comes in three colors you won’t find elsewhere: Ink, Graphite, and Cream. The trade-off here is it’s available only in 3 ½ qt. and 5 qt.

Sizes

While the Everyday Pan only has two sizes, the Braiser has four.

The Braiser (in photo) goes from 1 ½ qt. to 5 qt.

It goes without saying that how much food they can fit at a time is important. As mentioned earlier, the Everyday Pan measures only 3 ½ qt. and 5 qt. and accommodates about three to four and five to six servings, respectively.

On the other hand, you get more options with the Braiser since it comes in 1 ½ qt. and 2 ¼ qt. for one to two servings, besides the 3 ½ qt. and 5 qt. variants. The advantage here is you can pick the right size for your situation. For instance, you can choose a smaller size if, say, you’re cooking only for two most of the time or if you’re running out of cupboard space, things like that.

Performance

You can expect pretty much the same experience from both.

The Everyday Pan (left) and Braiser (right) are oven safe up to 500°F.

Being made from the same enameled cast iron material, it’s no surprise they’re more or less the same on this front.

For starters, you’ll get excellent heat distribution on either one, and when you close their tight-sealing lid, you can create an “oven effect,” for want of a better word. Heat retention is impressive as well, so your dish will stay warm longer. They’re oven safe to boot, capable of withstanding up to 500°F, including their knobs.

On top of that, cleanup is easy. First off, they’re dishwasher safe. Moreover, just about any scrubbing pad for nonstick pans can usually do the trick even for the most stubborn burns or stains.

Verdict

Besides its exclusive colors and limited sizes, the Everyday Pan is the same as the Braiser.

Amazon product

Le Creuset’s cookware are generally accepted to be among the best of the best. Its braisers, including the Everyday Pan, are a testament to that. Usually, the only thing stopping people from getting one is price. After all, they’re not exactly what you’d call affordable, but they’re definitely worth every cent, especially if you cook often.
