The iPad 2017 looks similar to the iPad Pro 9.7 although it’s slightly heavier and thicker.
With the same size display, all metal back and glossy front, the iPad Pro 9.7 and iPad 2017 are virtually identical. They are of the same width and height but the iPad 2017 is marginally bulkier at 7.5 mm thick versus 6.1 mm. It also weighs 469 grams where the Pro 9.7 is 437 grams. The iPad 2017 can perform everyday tasks such as browsing through social media or watching movies thanks to its Apple A9 processor. However, the iPad Pro 9.7 is better for gamers and creative types with its more powerful A9X chipset offering graphics boost. You can also choose from 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variants for the Pro while the iPad 2017 comes with only two storage options: 32GB and 128GB.

Both the iPad 2017 and iPad Pro 9.7 offer 2048×1536 pixel resolution on a 9.7-inch display. This makes these tablets perfect for watching movies and other videos. The iPad Pro 9.7 has a more advanced 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 maximum aperture and 4K video recording resolution. Its 5MP front lens has a Retina Flash feature for low light conditions.
The iPad Pro 9.7 is the best option when you require Apple accessory support and graphics boost but the iPad 2017 offers better value for money.
The iPad Pro 9.7 costs more but it does allow graphical performance boost along with a nicer camera and Apple accessory support. Most buyers would not need these features though which is why the iPad 2017 is the better choice as it has decent performance and the same size display.
