Design

The Hamilton Beach 49467 has a more modern design.

Both the Hamilton Beach 49465R and 49467 have an hour-glass shaped form factor. They are made with plastic and they come with glass carafes. Aesthetically, the 49467 has a sleeker and more modern look due to its rounded edges. In contrast, the 49465 has more sharp curves. Also, they both come in black with silver trims/accents.

Located at the bottom are the control panels, along with their digital clocks. The digital clocks on both models are easy to read, but the screen on the 49465 is a bit brighter. They both have control buttons for the on/off, program, hours and minutes functions, with the 49465 having an extra button for the auto function.

Both models are compatible with permanent or paper filters—#4 cone shaped. Also, they both have the same hot plates at the bottom. Design-wise, the only difference between the two are their appearance and control panels. When it comes to capacity, they are also the same—12 cups.

Spoiler alert, they offer the same functions. Both coffee makers come with a 2-hour shutoff function. They will automatically shut down 2 hours after you start brewing. No more leaving the house and wondering if you’ve turned them off.

Both coffee makers also come with a Pause ‘N Serve function. With this feature, you can remove the carafe to pour a cup of coffee even though the brew cycle is not yet finished. Both coffee makers will automatically stop dripping coffee if the carafe is removed, ensuring that there are no drips for you to clean up. When returned, the brewing cycle will resume. It is advised that you return the carafe to the hot plate within 20 seconds so that the filter basket will not overflow.

Both coffee makers are also programmable to up to 24 hours. You’ll be able to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee every morning with either coffee makers. Programming is a bit different on both models due to their slightly different button configurations but it is still very easy.

Ease of Use and Maintenance

Even though they have different button layouts, they control almost the same. The lack of an “Auto” button on the Hamilton Beach 49467 is not an issue at all. Instead of having a dedicated “Auto” button, it is integrated into the “Prog” button since it allows them to have a more streamlined control panel design.

The “Auto” button on the Hamilton Beach 49465R is used after programming the coffee maker to brew coffee in advance. Press it once and the light will turn green, indicating that it is on. On the Hamilton Beach 49467, the “Prog” button doubles as the “Auto” button. You press it once after programming and the light will also turn green.

Both coffee makers are very easy to clean. The exterior on both models can be easily cleaned by wiping them down. As for the brew baskets and the carafes, they are dishwasher safe, so no manual washing necessary. The hot plates are non-stick and they are residue resistant, so cleaning them is easy as well. Basically, you won’t have any trouble when it comes to cleaning both coffee makers.
