Overview of ghd & T3 Hair Dryer Models

ghd and T3 carry standard, premium, and travel hair dryers that have comparable price points

Each has three major models

Before we proceed with the in-depth comparison of ghd and T3’s blow dryers, let’s go over the different models you can choose from first. They both have a couple of hair dryers at different price points, from somewhere around $250 to $285 to the more affordable models that are hovering around $100.

  • ghd Helios and T3 Cura Luxe: the top-tier models (at the time of writing) that offer similar hair drying features (more on this later), although the ghd comes in more color options.
  • ghd Air and the T3 Cura: the mid-tier hair dryer models, with the Cura being slightly more expensive than the Air.
  • ghd Flight and T3 Featherweight: compact, foldable hair dryers that you can take with you when traveling

Blow-Drying Features

Both brands promise fast-drying and frizz-free hair , but T3’s top-tier model offers more

The T3 Cura Luxe (right) has more heat settings

ghd Helios vs T3 Cura Luxe

The ghd Helios and T3 Cura Luxe both offer ionic technology and are designed to tame the hair’s frizz as you dry. If done well, you probably don’t even have to use hair styling tools like straighteners as their blow-dried hair results are usually shiny enough. Since they both have a 1875-watt motor, the blowdrying time is also fast. Their airflow is powerful, but they don’t get as loud as cheaper hair dryers do.

Between the two, the T3 Cura Luxe offers more bells and whistles. The Cura Luxe boasts five heat settings while the ghd Helios only has three. It also features a lock-in cool shot button for setting your hair, a volume booster button that pauses the flow of negative ions, and an auto-pause sensor that detects when you release the handle and pauses airflow.

ghd Flight vs T3 Featherweight

Both the ghd Flight and T3 Featherweight foldable hair dryers that only have two temperature settings and one speed setting. They are only equipped with a 1200-watt motor, so don’t expect blow-drying time to be as fast as when using their top-tier counterpart.

Between the two, the T3 Featherweight is the better option as it features ionic technology (SoftAire Technology), which the ghd Flight doesn’t offer. Both foldable hair dryers are dual voltage, so you can safely use them in another country that use a different voltage.

ghd Air vs T3 Cura

These mid-tier blow drier from ghd and T3 Micro are equipped with different motors. The ghd Air is equipped with a 1600-watt motor, which is not as powerful as the 1875-watt motor found in the T3 Cura. Both hair dryers have 3 temperature and two speed settings and feature ionic technology that helps tame the frizz when blow-drying and achieve soft, shiny hair.

Design

Both the ghd and T3 Micro hair dryers have a premium look and feel, but the ghd models typically come in more colors

The Helios is available in five colors, including a limited edition neo-mint model

ghd Helios vs T3 Cura Luxe

You’ll get more colors to choose from in ghd’s Helios line of hair dryers. It’s available in neo-mint, navy, white, black, and plum. On the other hand, the T3 Cura Luxe is only available in white and black. Both dryers feature a nozzle that’s specially designed to release concentrated airflow for taming the frizz and fast drying.

At 1.7 lbs, the ghd Helios is slightly lighter than the T3 Cura Luxe that weighs 1.7 lbs. From afar, their white hair dryers look similar, but a closer look reveals the T3 Cura Luxe looks more luxurious, thanks to its buttons that blend seamlessly with the handle.

ghd Flight vs T3 Featherweight

If you’re after a lightweight, portable hair dryer, the ghd Flight better suits you. It only weighs .92 lbs, almost double the weight of the T3 Featherweight that weighs 1.96 lbs. Both hair dryers are foldable, but their nozzle design is different. The T3 Featherweight’s nozzle is slim and narrow, designed to blow dry your hair fast and tame frizz through concentrated air flow. On the other hand, the ghd Flight’s nozzle looks like your ordinary blow dryer.

ghd Air vs T3 Cura

The ghd Air sports a similar design to the Helios, including its narrow nozzle and its temperature and speed setting buttons. However, it’s much heavier at 3.53 lbs. If you have thick, long hair, this can feel too heavy after extended use. If you want to use ghd’s brush with your dryer, you can opt for the bundles that include the ghd radial brush and paddle.

Meanwhile, the T3 Cura looks similar to the Cura Luxe and weighs the same, too, at 1.75 lbs. It also has a premium look and buttons that blend well with the rest of the handle, although it’s missing the volume booster button found in the Luxe model.

Verdict

T3’s hair dryers are overall better, but if you want to save a little, the ghd Helios won’t disappoint as well

Amazon product

Between all the ghd and T3 hair dryer models we compared in this article, the T3 Cura Luxe is the best overall. It’s lightweight, powerful enough to dry your hair fast and tame the frizz, comes with more specific temperature settings, and advanced features like volume booster. It looks and feels premium, too. With that said, it’s also slightly more expensive than the ghd Helios.

If you don’t mind missing out on the Cura Luxe’s advanced features or prefer other colors like navy or plum, then the ghd Helios remains a great hair dryer option. If you prefer the T3’s aesthetics, a slightly cheaper alternative to the Cura Luxe is the standard Cura model. For their foldable hair dryer models, we have to go with the T3 Featherweight even though it weighs twice as much as the ghd Flight. The T3 Featherweight features ionic technology and its nozzle allows for smoother, shinier blow-dried results, which are not available in the ghd Flight.
