The new Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a lot more durable than the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
Both the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G have a clamshell design which allows you to flip them open. While they have this in common, the new Z Flip 3 is slightly smaller and sleeker. It makes better use of its front cover too, with the dual camera system taking up more space. The cover display is larger as well and it blends in more seamlessly with the rest of the design. In addition, you can get the Z Flip 3 in more colors including lavender, pink, green, cream, and grey. It comes in glass black too just like the Z Flip 5G although it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus so that you can have greater peace of mind.
The biggest design difference between these two models, however, is durability. Samsung claims that the Z Flip 3’s folding display is 80% stronger than its predecessor’s. Also, it’s constructed with a new Aluminum Armor hinge which can supposedly handle 200,000 foldings. To top things off, it boasts of an impressive IPX8 rating which means it can survive being submerged in three meters of water. However, it’s important to know that these upgrades don’t make the Z Flip 3 indestructible. They’re actually just necessary because the older Z Flip 5G is quite fragile to begin with.
