The Elegoo Saturn and the Anycubic Mono X are two highly popular resin printers due to their attractive pricing and excellent print quality. They are similar in many ways, so anyone looking to purchase a budget resin printer will pretty much have to decide between these two. Below is our Anycubic Mono X vs Elegoo Saturn comparison to help you decide which one is right for you.
Elegoo Saturn vs Anycubic Mono X Comparison Chart
Design and Build Volume
The biggest difference between the Elegoo Saturn and Anycubic Mono X is their build volume.
When it comes to the physical size of these two machines, the Anycubic Mono X is slightly larger and heavier. The Elegoo Saturn measures 280mm x 240mm x 446mm and weighs 10kg, while the Anycubic Mono X’s dimensions are 270mm x 290mm x 475mm and it weighs 10.75kg.
The difference in size allows the Anycubic Mono X to print taller prints, and that’s one of the biggest differences between the two. You can print taller models with the Anycubic Mono X as it has a build volume of 192mm x 120mm x 245mm. Compared to that, the Elegoo Saturn’s 192mm x 120mm x 200mm build plate is short 45mm.
As for their LCD screens, the two machines have similar offerings. They both feature an 8.9-inch 4K monochrome LCD with a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels. These monochrome screens will last thousands of hours and they allow for faster print times and shorter layer exposure times.
The Elegoo Saturn has USB and Ethernet ports while the Anycubic Mono X has WiFi and USB connectivity.
The Elegoo Saturn has a single USB port that’s located at the side and an ethernet port at the back, near the power switch. Having the USB port at the side instead of at the back is a welcome addition as it allows for easier access.
On the other hand, the Anycubic Mono X comes with a USB port at the side and WiFi connectivity instead of a physical ethernet port. Opting to go with wireless connectivity is a good idea on the part of Anycubic, but the implementation is quite lacking. First, the antenna is located inside, so the connection is not the best and it may be damaged from resin.
Also, their implementation of wireless connectivity is quite limited as it only works when paired with the Anycubic mobile app and it only allows you to monitor, start/pause and make minor print adjustments. You can’t wirelessly send prints to the machine, which is a missed opportunity.
Print Quality and Ease of Use
Both the Elegoo Saturn and Anycubic Mono X have excellent print quality that’s on par with each other.
Since these two 3D printers have similar specs, their print quality is very similar. Details are rendered without needing a lot of fine-tuning. Both machines are capable of delivering solid prints and they are fast as well. That said, the Anycubic Mono X does have an advantage when it comes to curing time and build volume.
As for software, the Anycubic Mono X comes with the Photon Workshop slicer. The software is decent and functional, but third party alternatives such as ChiTuBox and Lychee are much better overall. These two are much more beginner-friendly and they offer better auto-layout tools, support generation and more. The Elegoo Saturn is compatible with ChiTuBox.
After printing comes the messy post-processing. You can create your own DIY cleaning solution or setup, but you can also go with convenience and get a curing and washing machine. The Anycubic Wash and Cure 2.0 or Plus and the Elegoo Mercury Plus are excellent and affordable washing and curing machines that you should definitely consider.
You can’t go wrong with either 3D printers since they offer terrific value.
