Design and Construction

DreamCloud’s Premier mattress has more layers, including a Euro Top that gives it a plusher feel over the original DreamCloud.

Here’s a look at the design and construction of the DreamCloud (left) and DreamCloud Premier (right)

As hybrid mattresses, the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier combine cushioning foam layers with a supportive innerspring design. Although both beds are 14 inches tall, the Premier has a six-layer construction while the original variant has five.

DreamCloud’s signature quilted cashmere-blend cover makes up the first layer. Meanwhile, for support, the beds rely on a coil layer consisting of individually encased innerspring coils. These coils also aid in promoting airflow and reducing motion transfer.

With the original DreamCloud, you get three layers sandwiched between the cover and coil section. Right below the cover is a comfort layer made from high-density memory foam. Here, the gel material is pressure-activated as it contours to your body. This is followed by a “Sink-In-Just-Right” layer that provides some give without the sleeper sinking into the mattress.

On the Premier, DreamCloud replaces the Sink-In-Just-Right section with two foam layers to form a Euro Top. Its cradle layer is made from one-inch high-loft memory foam, while its support layer, also one-inch in thickness, uses a softer foam for a plusher feel. DreamCloud follows the Euro Top with the same pressure-relief comfort layer used on the original.

Both mattresses have a base layer of supportive foam to hold everything together. DreamCloud shares that its beds meet CertiPUR-US standards. They’re also free from Ozone depleters.

Firmness and Comfort

The DreamCloud is ideal for back sleepers who want firm support and ample comfort. Meanwhile, the DreamCloud Premier is better for sleepers who want deeper contouring and pressure relief.

DreamCloud vs DreamCloud Premier Support
These firm hybrid mattresses from DreamCloud minimize strain on the muscles with their emphasis on support and stability.

DreamCloud shares that the original and Premier mattresses have a medium-firm rating of 6.5. However, the latter’s Euro Top layer gives it a plusher feel. The Premier’s soft foam also offers deeper contouring. If you like to sink into a bed rather than lie on top of it, DreamCloud’s Premier should be your choice.

On the other hand, the original DreamCloud feels more like a traditional innerspring mattress. There’s just the right amount of give, allowing users to move around the bed more easily.

For back sleepers, this means a nice balance of support from the coils and comfort from the foam layers. But since DreamCloud’s comfort layer is thinner than other brands, side sleepers may find the support layers too firm.

If you’re a stomach sleeper, the DreamCloud puts less strain on your lower back than the DreamCloud Premier. With the latter, your hips will sink slightly deeper than in the original. This is especially true if your body type is heavy-set.

Meanwhile, average-weight sleepers will find both mattresses ideal for sleeping on your back. The only difference is the DreamCloud Premier provides more pressure relief on the shoulders and hips. The softer-than-average Euro Top and comfort layers also conform to the body better.

Motion Transfer and Edge Support

The DreamCloud Premier has better motion transfer than the original DreamCloud. However, both mattresses are tied when it comes to edge support.

DreamCloud vs DreamCloud Premier Firmness and Comfort
If you’re a couple, DreamCloud’s mattresses are a dream to sleep on.

Couples put a premium on a mattress’s motion isolation. If it performs poorly in motion transfer, you’ll feel your partner moving around the bed or changing sleeping positions. In this area, the DreamCloud Premier has the edge. The Premier’s support foam layer isolates movements better than the DreamCloud.

This isn’t to say the original completely fails in this aspect. Compared to other hybrid mattresses, movements on the DreamCloud are still not as noticeable. However, light sleepers may find the average motion transfer abilities bothersome.

When it comes to edge support, the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier are tied, even if their approaches are different. The original mattress employs a heavy-duty gauge edge shield, which means a thicker row of innerspring coils around the edges. This helps prevent sagging or the feeling of rolling off the bed.

Meanwhile, the DreamCloud Premier relies on its unique construction. Having a Euro Top means the mattress is firmer around the outer perimeter. The reinforced edges are also less prone to sagging, which again comes in handy if you’re sharing the bed with someone.

Sizes, Bundles, and Accessories

You can get the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier as a standalone purchase or as a bundle.

The DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier come in standard sizes. You can buy the mattresses in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King. The original DreamCloud is also available as a bundle. This package includes a bed frame, mattress protector, sheet set, and cooling pillow.

In some cases, DreamCloud offers promos for their mattresses. If you buy from their website, the company will include the Premier contouring pillow, cooling mattress protector, and sheet set for free or at a discounted rate.

Other accessories you can purchase separately are duvet, duvet cover sets, and weighted blankets. Various bed frames are also available.

If you prefer the feel of a traditional innerspring mattress, buy the original DreamCloud. For those who want a plusher bed with deeper contouring, get the DreamCloud Premier.

Our DreamCloud review covers two of the most popular mattresses from the brand. While they share several features, the difference in construction decides which bed you buy.

The original DreamCloud Mattress, for instance, has a firmer feel and delivers more support, making it suitable for back sleepers. This model is for you if you prefer lying on top of the bed rather than sinking into it.

Meanwhile, the DreamCloud Premier offers a firm but also plush feel. Its Euro Top layer lends the mattress to deeper contouring. Sleepers who prioritize pressure relief over support will find the Premier is a better choice.
