Features & Performance

The Breville Juice Fountain Duo has more speed settings and powerful motor

Make sure to choose the right speed setting depending on the fruit or vegetable you’re juicing

In terms of their core features, the Breville Juice Fountain Duo and Elite are similar. They are centrifugal juicers that don’t heat up your juice significantly (only by around 1.8 to 3 degrees F), which means you’re not losing a lot of nutrients when juicing fruits and vegetables.

Where the two juicers differ is in their motor and speed settings. The Breville Juice Fountain Duo boasts a 1200-watt motor that delivers a speed of up to 13,000RPM. It also comes with five speed settings that you can adjust using a handy speed setting dial. In addition, its speed control settings clearly tell you which setting best suits the fruit or vegetable for optimal juice extraction (see above photo). On the other hand, the Breville Juice Fountain Elite only has two speed settings, high and low, that can be adjusted using a toggle button. With that said, the high setting is still on par with the Duo’s 13,000RPM speed.

Another difference between the Breville Juice Fountain Duo and Elite is the puree disk that comes with the Duo. If you need to make baby food or simply want to puree fruits and vegetables, this blade comes in handy. If you often juice green, leafy vegetables, having a puree blade lets you get more nutrients from the leaves as well. Unfortunately, the Duo’s (BJE820XL) puree blade is not compatible with the Elite (800JEXL).

Design & Build Quality

Both juicers look sleek and are well-built

The Breville Juice Fountain duo (left) has a slightly larger pulp jug capacity

Like most Breville appliances, the Juice Fountain Duo and Elite are solid juicers that can last for years and years if taken care of properly. Their cutting blades stay sharp even with frequent use, thanks to their titanium-reinforced material. Even the mesh filter basket that spins out the pulp is made of stainless steel.

Both centrifugal juicers also boast a 3-inch diameter feeding chute which is wide enough to juice tomatoes, carrots, small apples, and peeled oranges without chopping them first. Their pulp container is also large enough to handle up to 3 liters of pulp. The Breville Juice Fountain Duo has a slightly larger 1.2-liter capacity juice jug compared to the 1-liter juice container the Elite juicer is equipped with. If you make big batches of juice, then the bigger juice jug of the Duo will come in handy.

Safety & Warranty

Breville designed both centrifugal juicers with ease of clean up and safety in mind

Most of the parts of the Breville Juice Fountain Duo and Elite are dishwasher safe

The Breville Juice Fountain Duo and Elite juicers are designed to ensure user safety. They are both equipped with a Safety Locking Arm, which makes sure you can’t operate the juicer until the cover is securely locked. Both juicers also automatically shut down when the machine detects overload to avoid overheating. This is why if you’re juicing harder fruits and veggies, we recommend chopping them into smaller pieces and using the appropriate speed setting.

Save for their food pusher and mesh filter basket, the parts of the Breville Juice Fountain Duo and Elite are dishwasher-safe (top shelf). In addition, the parts touching food are BPA-free. They also come with Breville’s one-year limited product warranty, so make sure to keep your receipt upon purchase. If the damage is covered by the warranty, Breville lets you return or replace the juicer at no extra cost to you.

Verdict

Get the Breville Juice Fountain Duo if you want to make purees and more specific speed settings, otherwise, the Breville Juice Fountain Elite is more than enough

Amazon product

Whichever centrifugal juicer you choose, you’ll end up with a well-built machine that can squeeze fresh juice fast without losing its nutrients. Get the Breville Juice Fountain Duo if you require more specific speed settings than the high and low settings available on the Juice Fountain Elite. The Duo also offers a puree blade out of the box, something not available on the Elite juicer.

While the Duo may offer more bells and whistles, it’s not as widely available as the Breville Juice Fountain Elite. If you can’t get your hands on the Duo, opting for the Elite won’t disappoint as well. It features the same feeding chute size, Breville’s extraction system, and the same safety features available on the Duo.
