Bissell Little Green ProHeat vs Pet Pro (2022): Comparing Portable Carpet Cleaners

Although the Little Green is an excellent and affordable carpet cleaner, some households might need a more specialized machine. Fortunately, Bissell has expanded the Little Green lineup with niche models. The Bissell Little Green ProHeat and the Little Green Pet Pro are just two of the top-rated cleaners in this category.

With the ProHeat model, you’re getting Heatwave Technology on a portable cleaner. If you opt for the Pet Pro, the machine comes with specialized tools and formulas to tackle pet stains. Beyond their specialized cleaning performance, what differences should you consider? Read our comparison below to know more.

Design

The Bissell Little Green ProHeat and Pet Pro both brandish attractive designs that make the original look a tad outdated.

Here’s a look at the sleek Bissell Little Green ProHeat (left) and Pet Pro (right).

Just like the standard Little Green, the Bissell Little Green ProHeat and Little Green Pet Pro are portable carpet cleaners. On the ProHeat model, you’re getting a machine that’s even lighter than the original. The Pet Pro unit, on the other hand, is far heavier at 13.25 pounds. Both ProHeat and Pet Pro are taller than their predecessor.

When it comes to design, the two models sport a sleek and modern aesthetic. However, Bissell’s ProHeat cleaner follows the form of the original more closely than the Pet Pro. The machine is equipped with two unhoused water tanks for clean and dirty water, respectively. Its Flex Hose also wraps around the base, while most cords and attachments hang on the back. True to its brand, the ProHeat features lime green accents on the unit.

In contrast, the Little Green Pet Pro ditches the dome and arc form of the standard Little Green. In its place is a helmet-like shape that’s R2D2-esque viewed from the front. The Pet Pro’s water tanks are also placed on top of each other, while its flex hose hangs on the side. Compared to the ProHeat, the Pet Pro’s carry handle is smaller. Bissell has also opted for blue accents on the Pet Pro, although there are hints of green in the logo and the cleaning tool.

Cleaning Power and Performance

Bissell’s Little Green Pet Pro is more powerful and maneuverable than the ProHeat.

These portable carpet cleaners are suitable for stairs, upholstery, carpets, and area rugs.

Similar to design, the Little Green ProHeat follows the footsteps of the original Little Green. It comes with a 3-amp motor, a holdover from its predecessor. As such, you’re getting the same powerful suction ideal for targeting spots and stains. Like the original Little Green, the ProHeat may not be suitable for more stubborn messes.

In this case, the Little Green Pet Pro is a reasonable alternative. The Pet Pro boasts a 5.7 amp motor that’s almost as powerful as Bissell’s upright carpet cleaners. It also comes with a larger 3/4 gallon tank compared with the ProHeat’s 32 oz. Lastly, the Pet Pro benefits from the extra reach afforded by a longer power cord and hose.

The Little Green ProHeat and Pet Pro are both suitable for carpets, area rugs, and upholstery. Due to their portable design, they can also be used for the stairs and car interiors.

Features and Accessories

Bissell’s Little Green ProHeat and Pet Pro come with a handful of cleaning accessories.

The ProHeat boasts HeatWave technology (left), while the Pet Pro enjoys a unique Pet Stain Tool attachment (right).

The Bissell Little Green ProHeat and Pet Pro pack more features than their predecessor. On the ProHeat, Bissell’s compact carpet cleaner now enjoys HeatWave Technology. It’s a feature that maintains water temperature during the cleaning process. This makes it easier to loosen and remove stains.

Like the original Little Green, the ProHeat model comes with a 3-inch Tough Stain Tool. With this attachment, you can better scrub away tough stains. However, it’s not ideal for stairs. In response, Bissell has included a 3-in-1 Stair Tool with the ProHeat. The attachment has three sides โ€” flat, indented, and pointed โ€” designed to work on corners, curves, and treads of carpeted stairs.

The more powerful Little Green Pet Pro also has its fair share of cleaning implements. While it doesn’t come with HeatWave Technology, you have three attachments to work with. First, the Pet Pro comes with the now-standard Tough Stain Tool.

Next, you also get a Spraying Crevice Tool that features a narrow cleaning head for touch to reach areas. This comes in handy when working on stairs or car interiors. Of course, the Pet Pro also has a dedicated Pet Stain Tool that delivers a cleaning formula deep into carpet fibers for lifting and removing pet messes.

Cleaning Solution

The Bissell Little Green ProHeat and PetPro work best with Bissell’s proprietary cleaning formulas.

Each of the Bissell carpet cleaners includes trial-size cleaning formulas.

Like other Bissell carpet cleaners, Bissell Little Green cleaning solutions are included with the ProHeat and Pet Pro models. These are trial bottles, so you can switch to other formulas depending on your needs. The ProHeat cleaner, for instance, comes with the PRO OXY Spot and Stain formula. It’s a mixture ideal for tackling kitchen grease and food and beverage stains.

On the other hand, the Pet Pro model is accompanied by the PET PRO OXY Urine Eliminator. As its name suggests, the formula works best on pet stains and touch urine. Bissell shares the cleaning solution can also discourage pets from going to the same spot. The PET PRO OXY Urine Eliminator is also suitable for cleaning vomit and tracked in-dirt.

Verdict

For most households, the Little Green ProHeat is recommended. If you’re a fur parent, however, the Little Green Pet Pro is a better option.
