When you look at these two, the Beats Studio Buds are easily recognizable since they have the “b” logo that Beats headphones and earbuds are known for. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro have a sleek and minimalist style that a lot of people will like. They both have an in-ear form factor and when worn, the Beats Studio Buds will protrude from your ear due to having a raised control panel, while the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro will sit flush with your ear.

Both are comfortable enough that they won’t cause discomfort when worn over a long period of time. That said, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro will go in deeper into your ear canal due to having longer stems. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and the Beats Studio Buds both come with three pairs of ear tips with different sizes for all ear types.

If you’re wondering if these earbuds can be used in the gym or for running, the answer is yes. The Beats Studio Buds have an IPX4 rating, meaning that they are sweat and water resistant. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro one ups the Beats in this department since they have an IPX7 rating, which means that they are sweat and water resistant as well, and they can be submerged under water for 30 minutes without getting damaged.

Both the Beats Studio Buds (left) and the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro (right) have ANC and transparency modes.

The Beats Studio Buds and the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are both active noise cancelling earbuds that also have transparency modes. When it comes to their active noise cancelling, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro perform a little bit better, blocking out more noise than the Beats Studio Buds. The Beats Studio Buds do not block out low frequency noise as effectively as the Samsung earbuds.

The two earbuds are capable of playing spatial audio and this results in a very immersive listening experience. While both earbuds have transparency modes, only the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro have the Detect Voice feature. With this feature, the earbuds will automatically enable transparency mode when their built-in mics pick up your voice. This is a handy feature that will allow you to have a conversation with someone without having to remove your earbuds.

When it comes to compatibility with both iOS and Android devices, the Beats Studio Buds have the advantage over the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. They don’t require an app for iOS users since they are owned by Apple so everything can be accessed in the OS. For Android users, the Beats App can be used to play with different settings, customize controls and more.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are optimized for Samsung phones only. You can still use them with other Android devices, but their features can be limited if the app is not updated. As for iPhone users, there is no app for these earbuds, so you won’t be able to use most of their features.

Sound Quality

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro sounds better than the Beats Studio Buds.

If you are familiar with how Beats headphones sound, the Beats Studio Buds are no different. They have an overly emphasized bass that is boomy and quite overpowering. The mids are quite accurate, but the highs are underemphasized, resulting in a dark and somewhat dull overall sound. These earbuds will cater to those that like to listen to bass-centric music such as hip-hop, EDM and more.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, in contrast, have an exciting V-shaped sound. The bass and the highs are emphasized, while the mids are slightly pushed to the back. Even though the bass is emphasized, it is not as overpowering as the bass on the Beats Studio Buds. The highs are clear and detailed for a bright sound signature, but the downside to this is that some tracks can sound harsh and piercing. Overall, we prefer the sound of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.

When it comes to battery life, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are capable of giving you more music playback time. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro have a battery life of 8 hours with ANC off and 5 hours with ANC on. Similarly, the Beats Studio Buds have a battery life of 8 hours without ANC and 5 hours with ANC.

The difference in battery life comes from their charging cases. The charging case of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro can provide an additional 20 hours with ANC off and 13 hours with ANC on. Meanwhile, the case of the Beats Studio Buds will give you an additional 16 hours of battery life with ANC off and 10 hours with ANC on. The difference is not that great, but it is still worth mentioning.

Both earbuds have a quick charge function if you forgot to charge them the day/night before. For the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, a 3 minute quick charge will give you 30 minutes of playback time, a 5 minute charge will give you 1 hour of playback and a 10 minute charge gives you 1 hour and 25 minutes of music playback. On the other hand, a 5 minute quick charge of the Beats Studio Buds will give you 1 hour of music playback.

Verdict

The Beats Studio Buds offer better compatibility with iOS and Android phones, but the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro sound better, have a longer battery life and have a more powerful ANC.

If you have an iPhone or a non-Samsung Android phone, you’re better off with the Beats Studio Buds since you’ll have access to all their features. It’s a plus if you like listening to bass-centric music since Beats headphones and earbuds are known for their overemphasized bass sound. However, if you do own a Samsung phone, you should get the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro since they won’t be gimped and you’ll have access to everything that they have to offer, such as great sound and strong ANC.
