Design

Aside from the stability fins, these Beats wireless earbuds have similar designs.

The secure-fit wingtips on the Beats Fit Pro (left) make them better suited for workouts and outdoor activities than the Beats Studio Buds (right).

The biggest difference between the Beats Fit Pro and the Beats Studio Buds in terms of design is the former’s secure-fit wingtips. Take away these wingtips and they are practically the same, except for the colors and some other minor details. These stability fins make sure that the buds stay in your ears during rigorous activities and thus, the Beats Fit Pro are better for people with an active lifestyle. The Beats Studio Buds are designed more for casual and regular everyday use.

When it comes to comfort, the Beats Studio Buds may have the advantage especially for those with smaller ears. Over time, the secure-fit wingtips on the Beats Fit Pro can become uncomfortable. You won’t have this issue with the Beats Studio Buds. That said, both of them don’t go in too deep into your ear canals, so they can be used for extended periods.

As for durability, the two are made of quality plastic so they won’t get damaged with regular everyday use. However, these shouldn’t be dropped from a significant distance since they may get cracked and damaged. They both have an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance.

Features

The Beats Fit Pro have a couple more features than the Beats Studio Buds.

Spatial Audio is exclusive to the Beats Fit Pro (left) in this comparison against the Beats Studio Buds (right).

Since Beats is a part of Apple, they are designed first and foremost, for Apple devices. They will still work with Android devices, however, some of the features that are integrated into the Apple H1 chip won’t be supported. Features such as audio sharing, head tracking and more are exclusive to iOS devices.

Features-wise, the Beats Fit Pro and the Beats Studio Buds both have active noise cancellation and a Transparency mode. Their ANC performance are on par with each other and they are quite similar. They will block out low and mid frequency noise but they won’t completely block out high frequency sound. Their Transparency modes also work similarly. Other features that they share include hands-free “Hey Siri” voice activation, one-touch pairing for both iOS and Android devices, audio sharing and Find My earbuds tracking.

Features that are exclusive to the Beats Fit Pro include Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking and automatic switching. Automatic switching between Apple devices is a convenient feature to have if you own several Apple devices that you use to listen to music or watch content with. Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking is great if you watch or listen a lot of content with 3D sound as it can provide a much better immersive experience.

Audio Quality

The Beats Fit Pro sound better than the Beats Studio Buds.

Beats headphones, whether they be earbuds or over-ear headphones, have a reputation of having an overemphasized and exaggerated bass. That’s not the case with the Beats Fit Pro. In fact, these earbuds have a slightly neutral sound with a consistent and balanced frequency response. You can still hear and feel the bass, but it’s not exaggerated. The mids and the highs are clear and detailed as well, but there may be times when the highs can be piercing, especially if listening to poorly mixed tracks.

The Beats Studio Buds, on the other hand, have that exaggerated and overemphasized bass that Beats is known for. The mids are flat and the highs are quite underemphasized. Listening to the Beats Studio Buds won’t be a pleasant experience for a lot of users.

Aside from sounding better, the Beats Fit Pro also provide better call quality. They are on par with the AirPods Pro in this department, and as mentioned in our OnePlus Buds Pro vs AirPods Pro comparison, the AirPods Pro are excellent for conversations.

Battery Life

Battery life on these earbuds are decent.

You get two more hours of battery life with the Beats Studio Buds (right) than the Beats Fit Pro (left).

When it comes to battery life, the Beats Fit Pro and the Beats Studio Buds won’t wow anyone. The Beats Fit Pro have a playback time of around 6 hours and a total of 24 hours with the charging case. On the other hand, the Beats Studio Buds can last around 8 hours and a total of 24 hours with the case. These are their advertised battery run time, your experience will vary depending on your volume setting, which features are enabled and so on.

Both earbuds come with a quick charge feature that Beats calls Fast Fuel. You can get up to 1 hour of music playback time with a 5-minute charge.

Verdict

The Beats Fit Pro are better than the Beats Studio Buds across the board, but they are also more expensive.

Beats Fit Pro

Better features and sound

Beats Studio Buds

Cheaper alternative with worse sound

There’s no question that the Beats Fit Pro are the better overall pair of TWS earbuds here. They sound better and have more features. That said, they are quite expensive. If you have an active lifestyle and you want a pair of earbuds that match that lifestyle, the Beats Fit Pro are an excellent choice for you. The Beats Studio Buds are quite disappointing in this comparison. They have a longer battery life and they are cheaper, but we don’t think that those make up for their mediocre sound quality.
